There's a dual fuel one that goes on sale for $500, free shipping, and also 10,000w:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/DuroMax-...3856113133

Dual-fuel is nicer imo, as propane is easy to get and never fouls a carburetor.

It seems that unlike Duromax you can operate this in the rain, and return to a brick and mortar store if dissatisfied.

The THD on the DuroMax is 13% (.. aka a great way to fry your electronics). Anyone know the THD on this DEK geenrator?

We live in Florida - all the sensitive electronics are on UPS and ran fine off the Duromax when we lost power from Irma.

Edit - also thunderstorms, every day.

What would you recommend for a fridge, deep freezer and 10k window AC in California? Power rarely goes out but there's talk of a 3-5 day blackout if the fire danger is right.

Like the idea that the handles slide into the frame for storage.

Now I am having second thoughts. Reading the most recent reviews. Stanley 8,000-Watt Gasoline Powered Storm Portable Generator with Electric Start and Removable Generator Panel-G8000S - The Home Depot
https://www.homedepot.com/p/Stanl.../202453680

Assuming this is the same Chinese Engine

Engine seems to be the weak point.

I just returned mine today. The fuel tank was filthy inside, and the model number on the product info sticker on the generator was for the 5kw model. I called the manufacturer and their solution (after a week of calling and emailing) was to offer to sell me a fuel filter. They said it was completely normal for the tank on a new generator to be dirty (there were metal shavings or something in there, not just residue). And they said they would get back to me about the wrong sticker on the generator. Engine was the correct size but how do I know all the other components are correct for this size and power?

So poor quality control and the support doesn't seem to be much help in fixing it.

I just requested return as well. Battery dead, which I was expecting. Same issue with the sticker, shows 5kw, but engine 420cc. When fuel in tank, fuel leaking out of fuel filter. Pulled spark plug to check gap, gap was off and appeared dirty with an attempt to clean. Discoloration as though it may have been used. Even after that, I decided to keep it. Filled with oil and fuel, started it up, and hour meter said it was at 74 hours. Already had over 3 days of run time. Plus gas tank was oddly very pressurized, not sure if that is normal, didn't seem right. Sold me a used generator, with attempt to cover up used items. Home depot coming to pick it up this week.
