Down vote me for saying it but
No to plastic.
I'd rather have plants animals and trees than a cheap shelf.

and it's why you see the reviews you see...about cracking

and it's still not enough. these shelves will warp with moderate weight (ie bottles of whatever)
Put the heavy stuff on the bottom shelf only as the bottom shelves have the floor to support them, Otherwise, you will most assuredly experience cracking and warping.

or just buy a metal wire shelf that will last a lifetime, and you can store whatever you want on it, on any of the shelves, usually at around 200-300 lbs per shelf. full stable. this is just typical plano plastic junk

i used to be all about the plastic shelves when i bought my house. then saw them all fall apart. replaced everything with a combination of HDX wire shelves and wire shelves from costco. next month will be year 7 with the wire shelves and they are as good as new

I'm done with these plastic shelves. They all BOW.

Get the steel wire ones if you want to store anything on it.

Costco has 5 shelf ones for $25 right now that I think have a weight limit of 300 per shelf. Picked up one yesterday and it's fine for $25.

I agree 100%. I was just giving advice in case someone decides to go the cheap route. Target had the steel wire shelves on sale for $30 a few week ago. They are taller with more tiers, wider, stronger, and you can adjust the space between the shelves.

Yes. You can. The shelves and poles are all interchangeable with these kind of shelves.

target is a fantastic place to get wire shelves! and cheaper than home depot when on sale

a lot of my basement wire shelving is from target bc they have some unique dimensions that offer more variety than HDX. for example, at target i was able to get the same height and width as HDX, but instead of only 14 or 18" depths, i was able to get 16" depth which is just what i needed to be able to fit a shelving unit behind a vertical duct branch in the basement.

Got mine yesterday. What a piece of crapola. It's thin, very thin. My problem was I have a 34 inch wide area in a bathroom that needs cheap shelving. All the decent ones are 36 inch wide so I decided to try this.
It will work for me but I wouldn't suggest using for garage or laundry. This thing is light weight for sure.
Also, there are no feet or caps for the top. I have several of the nicer Costco ones and they came with caps that fit into the top 4 holes that "finish" the unit off. Also had little stubs that went into the bottom holes on the base. This unit just sits flat on the ground.
Unless you need a sub 36 inch width I can't imagine why you would buy this.

I like it for temporary storage. Something that I don't care if it lasts cause I most likely will be moving it in a year.

I wonder what exactly makes someone qualified to be an "expert" at assembling a plastic storage rack? I wonder if Yale offers courses

I have one of these in my bathroom to hold various bathroom-related things. It's great for that purpose.
