Some of the newer routers and Mesh systems come with the ability to control ZigBee. TP-LINK M9 is one example.

Okay, the home Depot nearby had like 50 in stock today, 07512.
Anyone use these in a zigbee mesh with xiaomi sensors? Legend has it that zigbee lightbulbs are very poor repeaters.

There's a better chance those had better security/encryption.

***MAKE SURE TO RUN THESE/IoT DEVICES ON A GUEST NETWORK OR SEPARATE ROUTER!***

Countless tech articles will explain the details, and prevalence of garbage security. This increases, the cheaper the device. Once they break into the lacking or non-existent security, they have full access to all your high security devices on the same WiFi. Reading/deleting/adding files, etc.

Hackers are targeting IoT devices because of the extreme ease of it. There's even a Google equivalent search page, to look for these vulnerable devices connected to the internet.
What exactly is supposed to be isolated? The HUB device being used, for example the The Smart things HUB? Or is this in regards to smart devices that connect directly to a WiFi connection with no IOT hub in the middle?

Ugh....guess I have to open mine and try for myself.

Seems like these can be tricky initially.

I have some Hue bulbs and also bought some of these. I really like them, but a few notes:
  • I'm using the Hue hub... unlike pairing bulbs, you need to start with the light off, start searching for the Cree bulb, then turn the bulb on.
  • They're brighter than the Hue bulbs but can't dim as dark. Their dimmest setting is like 25% of the Hues.
I'm using them in rooms where I don't care so much about fancy color and just want good, smart lighting. Works great. I bought about 10 of them.
