I got this the last time it was around this price and really wanted to like it, but it has a few annoying issues. For one thing, although my phone connected to it mostly fine, I could never get my tablet connected(which would have been my main use case for streaming videos). The other problem was that even though my phone could connect, it would frequently disconnect and I would have to relaunch the app or cycle my WiFi to get it to reconnect. The third issue was that the native app just wasn't very good. It would randomly force close and I would have to reconnect again. I also couldn't find a way to change the default media player when opening files in the app, so it would either launch files with the janky built-in player, or I would have to long press and "open with" each time to select another player. The browser interface when accessing the hub via a PC is also very bare-bones and doesn't support streaming media - you instead have to download the file you want to access locally.

This seems like a great device! I'm sure I need one for something! I just need a good justification so I can tell my wife why I bought it. 🤣 Would come in handy for clearing up the android and iPhone storage to a microsd card! Also helpful for sharing picts at the end of a family vacation. Love the idea of turning a hotel room internet port into wifi access! One of those reasons should work with the wife. 😅. Thanks for posting! Repped!

In case I'm missing it, this has access point, but not hotspot?
I still have an old D-Link DIR-506L for the hotspot ability.

Uh, I just bought this last night. How would I get this deal (without the hassle of returning the old one and repurchasing this), if anyone can help out?

So like, this turns your hotel room into your personal internet? Just a random example, but you can use one of these and connect your Phillips hue Bridge so you can use the Philips hue bulb?

I'd do a chat with Amz. They are friendlier than talking to them in person. I've called when Prices have gone down within 24 hours. On one occasion they honored the price difference on the other 1 they didn't. So it all depends.

I had similar device 5 years ago, used it for about two. Really happy about it, as it combined wifi hotspot, card reader and power bank. The successor us following model: https://www.kingston.com/en/memor...g3-and-pro

Since my camera has dual memory slot, I don't need it anymore.

I got one during the last sale and have since returned it. SMB streaming performance was horrible. In fact, only the built in app, which I had no plans to use, would stream reasonably well. I also bought and tested the slightly older HooToo branded model and the results were the same. Since my main purpose of streaming content via SMB couldn't perform adequately, both devices were sent back. I've since bought a raspberry pi, installed Raspbian and Raspap, then configured SMB shares from a mounted USB device. This latter option was more expensive and required some effort to set up but it performed beautifully.
