I bought several of these whenever the price drops. Normally, $27.99
Super bright, long lasting rechargeable battery and built like a tank.

The "newer version" is a bit broken, while yes the LC40 is newer than the LC90, its a different flashlight entirely.
This is a 900 lumen, larger, rechargeable light.
The "newer" link is a smaller, 400 lumen light.

That being said, this is a fantastic light, highly recommend.

I went through 2 of the 2-cell version via warranty (easy process)

After a few months, I have the same issue. The light will flicker, if anything touches the body of flashlight at all. Its very annoying, I thought maybe the lens was loose, but tightened it all up, still same issue. I can replicate the flicker if I tap the tailpiece cap, issue with that is you cant remove cap to tighten anything.

if anyone have any ideas, feel free, if not looks like I will have to make a third warranty claim.

I have the 2-cell version and these flashlights hold up over time even when dropped down a 100 foot cliff *whoops*

Can someone please tell me if the "newer model" that's referenced under the price for the linked product is better?

These are great lights, I like them so much I bought a second one. They're rechargeable and great for camping and just having in your glove compartment of your car

Those pictures make no sense. "No batteries required" and then they show a battery right next to the flashlight and it says "Battery". What?!
It comes with a Li-Ion 18650 battery.
You are not required to buy or provide any.

I hate this torch. Cycling through the modes is a PITA. The only good way to do modes is a separate controller. They say it has a mode memory but I find it very unreliable.
