Hard pass on this one even with the good deal.
You sure it was the correct website? I have two of their smaller generators and got excellent support from them when I had a missing sleeve for the wheel kit. This is their official website and I don't see anything that says that.

I stand corrected. That statement was from absolutegenerators.com who are no longer supporting that brand of generators. But I do wonder why this website is discontinuing selling them.

There can be a number of reasons it's hard to guess. I work for a manufacturer of commercial air conditioning compressors, and we just cut off products and parts to our largest web distributor for non-payment , so there can be a number of reasons. One can only speculate why.

I've been waiting for a propane generator. Not sure if this is the one for me or not. Any input for SDers if welcome.

If you're not in a hurry usually the duromax/durostar 10,000watt dual fuel gens go on sale quite often. Usually around 5 or 600 bucks. I really like mine and my dad has the 12kwatt beast by duromax and works well.

I've been waiting for one of those actually. This last winter we lost electricity for 3 days and I swore I'd buy the next propane generator over 7kwatts(I want to be able to take a hot shower and run my furnace, a few lights and the toaster oven)

It might be worth the wait if you need a bigger generator. I took advantage of a previous slickdeal on the Duromax 12000w Beast unit when factory authorized outlet on ebay offered them for $649.99. Unfortunately I had to go through some typical chinese-built generator quality control hassles and had to return the first two units clear across the country, first one had no spark and the second one leaked oil. 6 weeks later I received my third one and it it's perfect runs great and is even a little quieter than I expected.

One thing I did is I ordered and installed a tri-fuel conversion kit, so I could run it directly off my natural gas line and it worked out great. We had an ice storm and no power for almost 4 days. It was nice running it on Natural Gas and I didn't have to worry about gas cans or propane tanks.

If that deal comes up again and it does from time to time, you might want to grab one. Like I said I did have issues with the first two units and it was frustrating unpackaging and installing the wheel kits and batteries for nothing, only to have to repackage them and ship them back, but the seller was very good about it and in the end it all worked out. Good luck

Looks like Amazon and Walmart have the same price for the gasoline-only version:

https://www.amazon.com/All-Power-...B004H9WBDY
https://www.walmart.com/ip/All-St...G/15684115

It is a different unit, but they have more reviews than the dual-fuel one. Might help in deciding between this vs waiting for Duromax (as mentioned by other commenters). Still on the fence myself.

The reason you haven't seen the Duromax deals pop up in a while is because of the tariffs we putting in place on China. I actually called and spoke with someone at the Duromax company and talked with them about it. Until the tariffs are gone, which doesn't appear to be anytime soon, the price is going to stay up around $900-$1000 on the XP10000EH duel fuel model.

Stupid question but how do you power the indoor appliances? Do you run a dropcord from outside to inside the house?

That would seem impractical in winter when trying to keep inside warm...

Also what's the advantage of using propane vs gasoline?

Took the plunge and ordered one. Been watching for a good deal on a generator for a while since I live in Florida and hurricanes are a concern for us. Thanks OP!

get an interlock kit for your panel. then the generator can basically feed your entire home. dealing with extension cords is a amateur way to do it since you can only use items that plug into it. with the interlock kit you can run recessed lights, built in appliances (fridge, oven, microwave), TVs, etc) can all be used just like you were on the grid.
