I have the 6 sheet version of this and it's still going strong 3 years later, I've not been too kind to it and have definitely put more than 6 sheets in before, choking it several times.

I'm 99% sure this is against PHI and HIPAA rules...
Not the one I purchased. It was a cross shred that was compliant back then. I am a compliance and privacy officer now, so I am glad you mentioned that. Rep for you for mentioning this just in case people want to buy this for work.

You can get the micro-cut shredder for $4 dollars more.
For anyone interested in better protection it's the way to go. Had mine since December with zero issues.

i have this shredder. not sure what the hate is about. i shred so much with it and its been a champ. maybe constant use is better then letting it sit idle?

you cant really ask for much else at this price point.

Buy a metal drum and burn your papers in the back yard. Much more satisfying and the papers can't be taped together.

By shredding credit cards you are contaminating the paper which should be recycled.

Regarding Amazon's ratings this one https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-8-Sheet-Strip-Cut-Credit-Shredder/dp/B01DN9NX0I/ [amazon.com] is better and cheaper - $26.24

I like a lot of the products from AmazonBasics, but I can't recommend this. It overheats very quickly, and jams often; and the jams are frequently difficult to clear.

On at least one occasion a bit of paper has stuck in front of the sensor, causing the motor to run non-stop and become very hot.

In retrospect, I should have paid more for a better product.

Thats what i decided to go with, and more for "medium duty" vs this one is light use, if it acutally makes a difference

Got to treat shredders nice. Overwork them, they go on strike. Overstuff them, they puke it back and go on strike. Baby them, and they last, even if you have to have multiple sessions to get past periodic overheating ( shutdown) or jams you have to manually clear. I could use a new one, but with occasional use, and local shred days, my 15 year old one still does the minor jobs. I paid around $75 for it then.

Thanks for the heads up. I just ordered this yesterday, so hopefully they'll give me a price adjustment.

Been looking for a shredder for my home office, thanks!
I bought this last December when it's on sale for $1 less than today's price, https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00Q3KFX8U

The trouble is I didn't open the shipment and just left in garage, but couldn't find it anymore after I last cleaned up garage. Should I buy this one in case I lost the last purchase?
