I bought the bluetooth version last week which I ended up returning because I wasn't happy with the muddled sound compared to my Presonus Ceres 4.5 Bluetooth. I purchased another pair of Presonus but a different model (Eris 4.5) as the Ceres is discontinued. I got lucky and was able to snag the Eris 4.5 on Amazon for $110 in used like-new condition thru warehouse. Edifier brand isn't bad, but I'd go with Presonus Eris 3.5 if money is an issue or upgrade to the 4.5 which has more tuning options on the control speaker. Anyways, it sure always seems like when I buy something it goes on sale a week or two later. I never used price protection on credit card(ending on citi card in Sept), although I don't think lightning deal would count. Just my 2cents about speakers in this price range.

That $30+ increase is a big step for Bluetooth functionality. Otherwise, looks like a decent deal for the standard $70 powered speakers.

If I have an echo dot, the older generation, would I be able to plug these into that (and from there use the Bluetooth/Alexa on that to play music)? Want to get some speakers set up in my bathroom

You would need a 3.5mm to RCA adapter, but otherwise I wouldn't see why not. I'd be a little worried about moisture levels, though...

If they had a sub out I would be all over these. I am kicking myself for missing out on the R1850DB when they were $140.

Have been waiting 5 months for these to go back on sale. Grabbed a pair. Great deal on great speakers, especially paired with an old wood plinth turntable.

Got the non bluettooth version over a year ago on a similar deal and enjoyed it ever since. I like that you can plug two different sources to it and that you don't need a separate amplifier. Sound is good to but I am only moderately picky so don't trust my opinion if you are a stern audiophile. I am tempted to get another one in fact. Thanks op.

Not really. Especially not if you're into EDM. (Unless your speakers can carry decent enough lows, but I wouldn't say these do. The 1700s are passable.)
