I've been selling part time on eBay for the last 5 years with thousands of transactions. I can say from my experience that the vast majority of buyers are honest and friendly. Running across a scammer does happen, but it is the exception, definitely not the rule.

Actually policies have changed. The fees are mostly the same over the years, but returns, refunds, disputes and fraud has changed. I love buyer protection, but there comes a point where it is too much. Using an item for 6 months breaking it and getting a refund is not honest and can really kill it for a seller.

I totally second that statement. The number of jerks has been exceeded by the number of people who have been thrilled to find/buy/receive the exact item they were looking for. I love it when a buyer makes a big deal out of the item and how well it was packaged and how much they love it.

Not worth it after fees + shipping cost + potential headaches from dishonest buyers. Even the $40 promo awhile back wasnt worthy enough to get me to sell here.

Oh get a job dude. I've been selling on ebay since 2001 and have had nothing but good transactions. If I have to pay $10 to ship a $15 item, so be it, take care of the customer. Heck, i'd even take buy it now offers for a few bucks just to get rid of my stuff (wedding suit, 55 inch TV, Windows 7 laptop)

If you have issues with buyers (i.e. fake/stolen accounts) then make sure you edit your buyer requirements. Don't forget to block buyers that appear suspicious.

I have found that if you adjust them rarely do you have someone that even sends you a message.

Not agreeing with him but he said so likely because he has a job and not a professional flipper so it's not worth the hassle..?

And honestly why everyone in this thread defending eBay/Paypal's ground is baffling. 10% is pure greedy. Also didn't Paypal refuse to refund 3% even for returns?

Does relisting or editing an existing listing would make me eligible?

I agree.

I have probably ran across 1 person that was dishonest. I have been selling on eBay for over 20 years.

The only thing l don't like is eBay and PayPal takes a large chunk of the sale. Recently l sold a book on eBay for $12 and PayPal fee was $ 0.77 plus $ 1.96 for eBay fees. Thus, these total fees amounted to 23% of the selling price and l was left with only $9.27. This was not worth considering the hassle of packing and shipping the item.

You need to sell more valuable items. Fees kill the small sales.

My experience has been different. I've sold 4 items and the last one used ebay's guarantee to steal my item and a refund (totally made up problems). 25% fail rate is enough for me to never use eBay again.
