This is a GREAT tripod for the price. Since it's a portable unit, it's obviously not that tall, but for portability it's been superb. It's handled many treks with me. Highly recommend at this price.

I have the carbon fiber version of this. I had both for a while but returned this one. In no was it heavy, but it's only slightly heavier than the CF one. Either way, as a hobbyist this fits all my needs. I'm new to the twist legs but I'd much rather have the click to lock legs. Either way, this thing is crazy good. I highly recommend.

Hmm I need a tripod. I know nothing about them. Is this any good? My camera + lens is probably like 2lbs. Mostly going to be shooting on city streets.

You need a tripod adapter.

This can easily handle 2lbs. You may want to get a monopod if you're going to run-and-gun on city streets, though.

Ok thanks. How does this compare to other $50 tripods on Amazon? There is no consensus online for recommendations.

I have a slightly different model of vanguard tripod and it's very good for beginner to intermediate use I would say. Simple to set up and pretty sturdy.
