I see it claims it is "faithful to the show", but I was only a fan of the first season or few... Exodia, seal of oricalcos, millennium stuff in general... Not whatever fusion nonsense they seem to be pushing more recently.

Also, I'm assuming there's lots of dlc on the eshop, right? I think I checked steam recently, and there was tons of dlc for $5 each on the steam store.

Wondering if the base vanilla game would suffice for my interests

I honestly always find Yu-Gi-Oh to be one of those games I pick up for a few hours and then put away for a long time. I'm hoping this game actually stays true to the original show, since I haven't touched Yu-Gi-Oh in probably 15 years, but I guess we shall see. I just don't know if this game will be worth $40.

edit: Dawn of destiny was the original Xbox game. I think this one came out on Xbox 3-4 years ago

I guess you could always rent it from gamefly, beat it and return it

It actually is very faithful to the show. It follows the actual card game rules, but the story duels are structured in a way with a prebuilt deck and certain draw percentages that give you the cards they used in the show.

Most of the DLC are for later seasons. I think you'll get your fill of the first series with this game.

Not a bad deal at all! I've been playing this game to try and get a good deck for the current format. Real life tournament qualifier in October, and I wanna make sure the decks i want work before i buy the rest of the cards IRL 😁

It's $32.88 on Amazon right now, could those of us without GCU price match and still get the gift card?
