I need a particular hunter ceiling fan, so I was very excited to see this deal. Then as I readied myself to click "buy", I decided I had better google reviews for build.com, since I have never bought from there.

I'm glad I did, because Yikes. I'm not risking it. Find me a deal with a reputable merchant and I'm in. I'll pass on build.com however.

I have used Build.com before, although only once.
No problems.

They looked middling compared to other big online sellers in the Google reviews I saw.

What specifically did you see that turned you?

I looked at reviews at trustpilot

https://www.trustpilot.com/review/www.build.com

Resellerratings

(And there are over a dozen results directly for build.com, and the reviews are horrible for all of them)

Honestly, type build.com in to google and read (not just the summaries, but open a few links and read).

I've bought thousands of dollars worth of bath fixtures and other things. I only had one item that looked like a manufacturer defect. They wanted a picture of it to send to them, and they sent me a new one for free with no issue. It's probably YMMV.

Are there any options to install/add remote control for light/fan?

I just got a chandelier delivered yesterday from build.com. Packaging was damaged but the product was intact. Still can't believe they shipped it (was only $12).

Build.com is a legit place. We purchased a lot from them during our home remodel. Not the cheapest but sometimes you can find a good deal ( like this one).

There are universal remotes from $25 at Home Depot and Lowe's; ease of installation and results may vary. I updated OP - added fans that include remotes. Happy Shopping!

Lutron switch and fan switch. Will work perfectly as long as you have two different switches for a light and fan

I am also wondering if someone can make some suggests for smart fan controls...

I currently have a bedroom with a dumb fan/light combo with two different pull chains, one for light on/off and one for fan speed. There is only one single dumb toggle switch on the wall that simply controls power to the fan. Are there any in-wall smart switch options to control this type of fan/light combo? I have smart bulbs installed right now which I control via Wink hub, but have no smart fan control.

I have another room where I want to install a fan, and there are currently two in-wall dumb toggle switches that control the same light fixture where the fan will be installed. Are any of these Hunter fans a good option where I could then layer on some smart switches or other types of controls?

I know that's a lot to ask in a Slickdeals thread, but any comments are appreciated!

If you have a separate control for the light switch and fan switch, then the lutron switches will work. You have to buy the bridge first. And I would make sure that your light bulbs are compatible
