A winter vacation in Greece is not enjoyable.

Also, keep in mind that most restaurants and resorts are closed out of season; public transportation is limited during these periods.

I was in Crete this May, and it was cold and windy; the ferry wouldn't run on the west coast, and buses were limited. Mainland was cold and rainy; in the Peloponnese, the temperature dropped to 32F. I can't imagine spending time there in March.

I wonder if I can use this to travel to Germany. Skiplagged kind of thing. Possibly won't be able to board the return if I don't show up in Athens first.

Correct, skiplagging only works on one-ways. But you could book a second easyjet or something discount flight.

If there is one thing to do while in Athens.... Use a hidden wallet. Don't keep anything at all of value in your pockets.

Try doing a multi-city and see if it will let you "extend" the stopover in one of the directions? Fare rules may prevent or increase the price.

I used AirBnb almost everywhere in Greece, except Nafplio where I stayed in a good, nice hotel for only $30/night in May. Out of season, many hotels in Greece lower their rates.

CGD is Changde airport in China. I assume you meant CDG, which is Charles de Gaulle, Paris.
Either way, it makes no sense to go through Athens to get there.
