What is the consequence of not having a pump?

Your dehumidifier drain has to be higher than your drain pipe or you have to purchase an external condensate pump

I've got the 50 pint, it definitely works but if you got anything bigger than 400-500 square feet you're gonna need 2. I have to empty the bucket every day or 2 set at humidity level 50. I'm thinking of getting this 70 pint to help out my existing one.

With a pump and outlet pipe you can pump the water outside your house or into a larger container so you don't have to dump daily.

Mine pumps to my sump pump and it kicks the excess out of the basement a few times a day.

Basically a no hassle setup

Might want to check the bucket size of each.

In case you didn't know or for anyone else reading, the pint rating is just the maximum amount of water that the humidifier can pull out the air in a day not the size of the reservoir.

It's not that much bigger a bucket. 70 pint just pulls more moisture per day. It will fill up faster if anything. You may want to run a drain hose.

In this case, the Insignia 50 and 70 both have a 1.6 gallon reservoir.

I have this unit and it works pretty much the same as more expensive Frigidaire. Frigidaire is built a little more solid (thicker plastic), but otherwise performance pretty similar. Noise wise they were also about the same. I returned Frigidaire and kept this one along with $80 premium in my pocket.

Maybe a dumb question but could this be used in my crawlspace under my house? My thought is put it in the middle of the 2000sq ft space up close to the floor joists (highest point) and then just have a drain pipe pointing down and outside to drain.

I have it. It's phenomenal. There have been reports about the drain feature not working well. Where you have the hose connected but it still goes into the bucket. I had that a couple times, but it started working again just fine, and has for 2 years. I have it drain into a Little Giant pump which I connected some vinyl tubing to and have it empty into a drain. It keeps my basement at a nice 55 percent humidity all summer. It puts out less heat than my Frigidaire dehum which broke down 2x. I got the extended warranty. It's worth it. This unit is fantastic. It also costs less to operate than my old Frigidaire.
