It's 2019... who the hell is buying 1080p tv's?

4K for a few bucks more is totally worth it.
There are many families out there need affordable tv. Or even if you need additional tv for for streaming for your kids room, it's worth it.

You could pay 10 more dollars and get a 4k TCL...makes this seem really not worth it.

How good really is a 4k TV when you have no 4k source of any kind? Hell, I just sold my 6 year old Sharp Aquos 50" 1080p for $200 on CL when I bought that 65" Hisense. There is a market for these mos def

My parents still don't even have an HD cable box. They could care less about 1080p, much less 4K.
Bedroom tv or spare tv this a great value, and I'm a big fan of the Roku TV built in, as I prefer it to other built in smart OS. I personally wouldn't use it as a main tv due to PQ, but I understand plenty of people that would be 100% happy with this.
I have this 49" in a 4 series (bedroom tv) paid about $250 I think a year and half ago, and would be perfectly happy with 1080p, as I have a Dolby vision HDR set for my living room.

I got my 43" TCL 4K for less than this. Just seems like a bad deal.

Yeah. I'm 72 and don't give a rip about all this hi-tech TV (hate having a cable box). All I want to do is turn on the dadgum set and have it work reasonably well, and it's the same with all folks I know in & around my age.

I'll take a 120hz 1080p over a 60hz 4k. 99.99% of the content I watch is 1080 or lower. All my 4k tvs are relegated to 1080 duty anyway.

Also, at this size, you need to be sitting within about 6 feet for the 4K resolution to make a difference. (HDR may be beneficial from farther away.)

I can see plenty of situations (TV placements, and content choices) where you don't get additional benefit by adding 4K... but if it only costs 10-20% more, I'd sure want the 4K option.

FWIW, when I got my 65" Vizio PQ, I sold my 2011 Samsung 50" Plasma for $100. If you're really on a tight budget, I'd probably look for a used 1080p TV for $100 rather than this set.

Onn 4k 50in TV has been available for $150 or less for a while. Refurb is currently available for $118 and no tax on Ebay. With 10% Ebay bucks and 5% discover Paypal CB it comes out to around $100 shipped.

Then you can add Firestick/Roku/Chromecast 4k streamer for $25.

That 4k combination for $130 total is better option compared to this 1080p TV for $190 before tax.

Good deal, I might take advantage of it, though I don't like Best Buy's overly limited return policy (15 days).
I don't think there's a cheaper 49 inch Smart TV on the market right now.

edit: Looks like Amazon marked down this same TV to $199.99 with free returns. Might get it from there, I have the 5% cashback amazon card.
