The site says this is just the kit, the fan doesn't seem to be included

I agree with the previous reply-- seems to be just the light kit, not the fan.

so is this generic add on for any Hampton Bay fan??

I have one that has a quick connect light attachment (bunch of spirals) that no longer works unless jiggled so would be great if I could use this instead

that sounds like you just need to turn some electric wire nuts and it would be fine

thx, but I had an electrician look at it and they said it was the quick connect that was bad (you pull on it and the light attachment drops out). The Fan works fine so I just use a lamp in the room for now rather then getting a new one installed.

If I could just "sub" this on instead...

This is more than just a generic light attachment. It has a speaker that you connect via Bluetooth to play audio from your phone or other device. Kinda neat if you don't want to have a speaker on a shelf.

Does anyone know if you can use this without a fan?... As in, can you just replace a ceiling light fixture with this and use it.
