I suggest beginners learn on an electric guitar because the neck is slimmer and the strings are closer to the fretboard. Holding chord positions and learning scales is much easier because it doesn't require as much arm/wrist strength that the new player hasn't developed yet.

This is a standard size guitar and the 140-SE is a parlor style. The latter is smaller in size.

I've got the Fender 300 ce with the same finish. Beautiful guitar! Great sound! This one which is a shorter scale is for my daughter! She loves the color!

I'm interested in this guitar because it seems really good for the price, and because at that price I can experiment much more with it in terms of refining my ability to set up an acoustic. At 99$ it is very worth it to me for these purposes, but over that I'm not really interested. What I am getting at, is how has the SD rebate process been if anyone has experience? If it's not much of a hassle I think I will make a purchase here.

Thanks for this, good info. Is there an acoustic that you might recommend for a beginner. I'm going to be taking a group class, which requires acoustic. Also, I have small, old-ish hands. Smilie Thanks

I read through the other recent guitar rebate threads, no complaints and people have reported receiving the rebates without issue. I have not tried this yet, but might try this deal. Seems that other recent deals included a hard case, but the price was also $30 more.

Hi,

I'm thinking about buying to start learning how to play. Does "acoustic electric" mean I can play this with or without a electric amp/speaker? Thanks

Yes. I have an acoustic electric and I almost always play it without an amp.
