Anyone experienced with CBD oil or hemp oil?

7,684 4,212 August 23, 2019 at 09:06 AM
My dad is 88 yrs old.His doctor has been weeding him off of opiates and he has a lot of pain due to rheumatoid arthritis and just basic age related pain. His doctor wants him to try CBD oil. We live in Ohio and this stuff was just recently legalized but looking at prices of a lil bottle of CBD oil is way too expensive.I saw cheaper stuff called hemp oil at Amazon and was wondering if anyone had any success alleviating pain with any of the cheaper hemp oils sold at Amazon or elsewhere on the internet.

Do you know what brand actually works for his kind of pain and where to buy it?

Don't have a local shop that sells them? They'd be better to talk to about local dosages and such.

CBD gummies are great, but I do like tincture, too. I like Select Oil for my stuff, but I can easily get that in CA or OR. Not sure where you are specifically located..

Also - do your proper research and make sure you're not getting a load of bunk. You'll probably be better looking at some CBD/Hemp forums and asking for feedback there. They'll likely send you in the right direction.

I would not go with Amazon, Ebay, or any random website. Go with an established dispensary or a delivery service from one. They will also give you advice on the strength and dosages.

Use a lab branded product like Epidiolex, non pharma shops are hit or miss. Medicare should cover costs with RX - do not waste a dime on hemp oils. The real product will take a few weeks to work its way into the blood stream. It will chill pops out but may or may not work for difficult pain days, so hang on to the opioids.

If coverage/costs are an issue, call on some head shops in Southern Oregon. All cannabis products are dirt cheap there and they may be able to find you a 'pen-pal' Wink

Good luck.

Dont do just cbd, get FULL SPECTRUM OIL with the THC as well as CBD and the other cannabinoids, cgn, cbg etc.works much much better in tandem with the other cannabinoids. The Entourage Effect. I dont think ohio has this oil yet, its also called Rick Simpson Oil or RSO. Im in Ohio as well and use rso daily for Chronic Pancreatitis, and im completely off opiods for pain from taking the rso daily. It sells for about 30$ or so for 1 gram which last me 10 days with a grain of rice size dose. I buy mine in Michigan as its waaaay CHEAPER than Ohios dispensaries. Put it like this, 1gram cartridge of thc distillate in Ohio at a dispo is 175.00. In mich you can get them for 25$. Same with flower. 2.8g in ohio, (10th of oz.) is 50.00+ where in Michigan 50$ can get you closer to a quarter oz, 7 grams. The rso comes in s syringe, no needle, and you just squeeze out a little onto some bread or something to get it injested, i just put a Dab on my finger and scrape it onto my teeth then immediately wash it down with water. I LIKE the taste (marijuana) so i just eat it w/o food. Its been a MIRACLE for my pain from Pancreatitis. The drive to michigan is worth it. They take Ohio patients no issues. Buy in bulk, or 30 day supply. State Line Wellness is one right across border. Use weedmape. Detroit is even cheaper. Good Luck. Im VERY experienced with MMJ if any questions.

Medicare dont cover anything in Ohio, dont think it does in Michigan. No insurance does for mj. The brand you are referring is only from that state, not sold here. Stupid federal laws. Im using a 1:1 ratio of RSO thats lab tested from PSI Labs branded under the name Galactic Meds. FECO RSO. Thc 35.3%, cbd 37.4%, cbn 1.69%, cbg 1.95%. Total cannabinoids 76.43%. Gets me feeling good too.

That brand was the first FDA approved, at the time for severe forms of epilepsy, but this may have change/will no doubt change as it is marketed for other uses (IMHO). FDA approval green lights reimbursements. But yeah, the feds are always late to the party and some of us are more than capable of self medicated without falling victim to self inflicted wounding.

I learned something new today about RSO. I've tried CBD (100mg/ml oral) from a very reliable lab, and it didn't do much of anything for me. THC does however, but that would make for a very short conversation with a medical professional. I am able to maintain with regular exercise, stretching and portion control...I have a surplus of pain meds on hand if needed. Better to have them and not need them, than need and not have. Smilie

If I were the OP, I'd plan on a road trip with dad given your instructions. nod

I'm a fairly heavy cannabis user overall, but CBD does work for me when I don't have a THC-based product, or I can't use one. Even just CBD helps keep my anxiety down and it's great for aches and pains. That said, everything is better if you've got more than just CBD. The entourage effect is something to definitely be considered. Unfortunately, lots of places still won't give you a job if you pop positive for THC. My gf would probably do great on something like 5:1 or even 1:1, but a positive THC test, and she loses her nursing job. Fortunately, plain CBD seems to do a decent trick for her.

Are there exceptions for CBD in certain States? I'd imagine that would throw a positive for MJ use.

I believe employer are specifically searching for THC in the system. CBD shouldn't pop positive on a test. That said, it's all about individual employers. My employer won't drug test because they'd probably lose 60% of their workforce.
