Anyone experienced with CBD oil or hemp oil?

My dad is 88 yrs old.His doctor has been weeding him off of opiates and he has a lot of pain due to rheumatoid arthritis and just basic age related pain. His doctor wants him to try CBD oil. We live in Ohio and this stuff was just recently legalized but looking at prices of a lil bottle of CBD oil is way too expensive.I saw cheaper stuff called hemp oil at Amazon and was wondering if anyone had any success alleviating pain with any of the cheaper hemp oils sold at Amazon or elsewhere on the internet.

That brand was the first FDA approved, at the time for severe forms of epilepsy, but this may have change/will no doubt change as it is marketed for other uses (IMHO). FDA approval green lights reimbursements. But yeah, the feds are always late to the party and some of us are more than capable of self medicated without falling victim to self inflicted wounding.

I learned something new today about RSO. I've tried CBD (100mg/ml oral) from a very reliable lab, and it didn't do much of anything for me. THC does however, but that would make for a very short conversation with a medical professional. I am able to maintain with regular exercise, stretching and portion control...I have a surplus of pain meds on hand if needed. Better to have them and not need them, than need and not have. Smilie

If I were the OP, I'd plan on a road trip with dad given your instructions. nod
Thanks for all the info.I don't think he's going to want to fork out these big bucks for such a small amount and only a chance of relief.Last road trip I took my dad on taking him to a far away hospital ended in a crash so that definately is not going to happen.I'm scared to death of highways now, lol.

I believe employer are specifically searching for THC in the system. CBD shouldn't pop positive on a test. That said, it's all about individual employers. My employer won't drug test because they'd probably lose 60% of their workforce.
I guess possessing a medical card would offer one some measure of protection.

Your dad should circle back to his doctor for help. Many docs are tuned into local charitable resources that can help out.

I just did a quick search, here's a place to start:

CBD oil isn't cheap. As has been suggested already, go with Full Spectrum CBD oil with a small amount of THC (less than 0.3%). Research shows it is better than just straight CBD oil, and a slight amount of THC seems to make it work better. Hemp oil may not contain CBD if it is made from hemp seed.

CBD American Shaman is a manufacturer that offers a 60-day money back guarantee, and there seems to always be a 20% off discount code (like HEART20) available on the internet. CBD American Shaman offers a 30% discount under their compassionate care program. Their water-based Full spectrum CBD oil supposedly has more CBD bioavailability than normal tinctures. You mix it with a liitle water, coffee, juice, etc. and just drink it. It doesn't taste the best (kind of grassy after taste), so have a chaser ready. It retails for $0.20 per mg CBD. Their pricing is on the high end, but they are a reputable firm and the 60-day money back guarantee might be a way to see if it will work for your Dad. But, if it does work, your Dad will probably spend a couple thousand dollars a year for a working dosage.

A local CBD American Shaman store is owned by a lady who's mother had been on opiates for 23 years because of a car accident. Within a week of taking CBD, the mother was able to quit taking opiates and still feel good. She is more active now on CBD oil then she has been in a long time. It may not work for everyone and it definitely is not cheap, but a water-based Full spectrum CBD oil might be a good thing to try. You would probably have to try it for a couple weeks to see if it will work, and may have to experiment with the dosage to find the right amount.
