Absurdly large speakers. It's not the 1970s people. I can't help but laugh looking at the Klipsch add showing off these speakers in a room. https://www.klipsch.com/products/...g-speakers
Well I'm not sure it's a date/time thing, has more to do with perception and subjectiveness.
Some people would laugh and think it was absurd that people in 2019 believe that a sound bar sounds as good as those "absurdly large speakers" also.

Thanks. I'll just wait for an atmos kip center to go on sale starting with just a 5.1. If there's some crazy deal on bookshelf's I'd go 7.1. But center first to have a working setup

Or is atmos only for floor standing speekers? So confusing

Like this. $150 cheaper because of the color...

Klipsch RP-440C Center Channel Speaker - Cherry https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00S4H8...yDbX963GK5 [amazon.com]
There are some "comparable" soundbar surround systems. That are more or less systems in a box rather then bars. I think Vizio[maybe i am wrong on brand] has a 9.2.4 system [like 7 piece system I think] that was miraculously on sale for $800 [retail $1100]. Comparable meaning you can't build a system remotely close for that price if you want atmos but if your asking if it compares to a $2000+ system - not really. If your building for a BIG room it won't cut it obviously.

I think your better off with something like that tbh, you need to research a lot more if building an atmos. 5.1 doesn't exist with atmos. It would be something like 5.1.2 or 5.1.4

5 is the amount of ground sound [traditional speakers
1 is the subwoofer.
2/4 is the atmos [above head] sound.
In some speakers like those there are 2 different speakers[ground+atmos] in unit but its still different channels.

That means either 7.1 or 9.1 channels is minimum for receiver.

Edit: It was Nakamichi Not Vizio.

Guys/Ladies, I have these very same speakers. I HIGHLY recommend these speakers. You won't find a better set for the money - period. (Unless you know someone that can get them off the back of a truck)

Sound quality is insanely great. These babies are huge. Check the specs. If you have the means, space, and value quality - this is not even a debate: GET THEM!

What models your receiver? I wish I had money to burn but I'll be happy with just my 5.1.4 setup.
It's actually a receiver recently posted as a deal on here by the same guy who posted this one, iconian I believe. I'm pretty sure it's still live; not sure if this link will work: https://slickdeals.net/share/iphone_app/fp/493198

If not, then just search "Yamaha" and it should be one of the first on the list. It's model RX-V2085, and at $799 it's a great deal for sure, but it's last year's model. It's a 9.2 channel receiver of course, meaning 5.2.4 would be as high as you could go. Also, it's a lot of money to spend, so if you're in the market for a receiver and think that you'll keep it for 8-10+ years, there's a new HDMI spec that's coming soon, HDMI 2.1, that will allow up to 8-10k resolutions and 120fps. Now obviously that's not going to be commonplace anytime soon, but it's something to keep in mind as this receiver doesn't support the newest spec. It'll do up to 4K 60fps fine though.

With that said, if you plan on going the 5.1.4 route and already have a 9.2 capable receiver that can decode atmos, then you'll probably be set for now and can hold off upgrading (if it's an older model). Klipsch speakers are known for being very sensitive, meaning you don't need a ton of wattage to push them and get loud.

For these speakers, which center, woofer and receiver shall I get? And how difficult is it to match the color?

Thanks for the help. I got 4 of these towers, and a rp-440c center. I'm not using them till I move in a month so maybe 2.1 hdmi will be out by then. That or if I find a nice disco tee used one at bestbuy. Minimum 9.1.2 hopefully 11.1.2
