Just an FYI, I had one of these replaced for this exact reason. It's a lifetime warranty, so they confirmed over the phone that it was a mechanical failure and sent a replacement within a week. It was a really simple process.

This is an excellent deadbolt. I've been using the satin nickel one since early 2015 with zero issues.

Good deals on both. I have 2 refurb's from Build.com for the Schlage Z-Wave ones and have run well like new for the past year since I bought it. Ended up copping the nickel one non z-wave touch in this post last week before Slickdeals caught wind of the deal. From what I received, looks just like new and can't tell the difference.

Add pro pricing for an even better price. I've been on the fence since some people have said it didn't come with keys

I have 2...one of them only works ~10% of the time, and it's < 1 year old. It clicks, etc., but the pawl doesn't grab the bolt and so it the knob just spins and spins. If you whack it a few times, SOMETIMES it will engage (~10%). Not reliable.

The front door this has happened a couple of times, but rarely.

Overall I'd still give them a 7/10. I'm sure I can get the defective one replaced under warranty, but that takes effort.

We have been using the Camelot lock for a couple of years now without problem. The 9v battery lasts over a year! It doesn't have the fancy wifi connected to an app but it's reliable and have great battery life. Just make sure you enter the four digits code correctly the first time or it will make you wait about 30 seconds before letting you try it again, I recommend this lock!

I had the same issue with one of these (spins and spins without unlocking). Electronics are only warrantied a year and I completely tore my apart to reset a spring since it was out of warranty. Sadly, this lock was on a back door rarely used. My parents had a similar problem with this exact lock.
