The Intel uhd620 is garbage at 3d games. Look up benchmarks of the uhd620 vs Vega 8. If the difference matters then get the ryzen. Neither are good enough for "gaming" but if your expectations are right then awesome. If you have no intentions of playing games then it don't matter.

A lot of people raised concerns with the max brightness being 250 nits. Has it been an issue for you at all, what is your light setting like in the room for when you use the laptop?
Inside the laptop is perfectly fine. Even with windows letting in natural light I have no qualms with the brightness. However taking it outside would be an issue. Overall I'd say that the brightness is a drawback just because it's not as bright as it could be compared to other laptops. It's not that bad in and of itself.

Link to the ram you used to upgrade please?
Here's what I used. Crucial 16GB Single DDR4 2666... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071KP8...b_ap_share
The laptop only supports a max of 20gb so this would be light overkill but I went with this because it was only a few more dollars at the time and if I ever wanted to use it for something else I'd have more flexibility.

So those on the lookout for even better deals or on the fence.. I'd suggest still buy this .. you still have a 14 day return window at office depot.. if something better comes along. And don't forget to use the credit cards which offer extended warranty

I have a 50$ OD GC. If I pay using that and the rest on Citi Costco credit card, am I still eligible for the extended warranty? Or do I need to pay the full amount to be eligible for extended warranty?
Someone?

Specs for maximum memory are very often understated.

I believe they do it so as to discourage people from buying cheaper machines and upgrading them (Apple does this on many of their computers, IMO to get people to buy new instead of upgrading old LINK [ramjet.com]). A naive customer who wants 20GB of RAM would believe they needed a higher cost machine to do it, rather than buy something like this and swap the replaceable 4GB module with a 16GB module.

A DDR4 system should be able to use 16GB modules regardless of what the manufacturer says. Of course, sometimes there is only one slot, or sometimes one or both modules are permanently soldered in, so those aren't going to be upgrade-able. And the complexity of disassembling the laptop to access the RAM varies widely from laptop to laptop, it can be a 30 second job that requires removing a single screw, or can require you to literally take the whole damn thing apart.
OK, thanks for the info and to the original poster. Appreciate the comments. I bought one of the laptops from Office Depot and will install 16GB RAM in the slot.

Own this laptop and love it. Runs emulators very well. Even played some Apex on it. Not great battery life but very capable at this price point

Unless there's one I don't know about, all the officedepot coupons exclude electronics.
