I've been running ecobee3 for almost 2 or 3 years now and in would recommend it in a heartbeat. The ability to have the remote sensors is the main reason I got this over Nest at the time. I've got whole house humidifier also hooked up this. I haven't had to adjust my temperatures like I used to do and it just works. Haven't had any outages or WiFi problems. Just needed to replace remote sensors batteries when the system tells you it's low in battery.

i'm guessing it's a regional issue. because ecobee's own boards are flooded with complaints about server outages. i see announced outages, and many of mine don't match up to those, or occur on top of those.

edison (energy provider here) doesn't give any kind of heads up and just locks the thermostat to whatever it is they feel like that day, sometimes as high as 82 (seen this summer).
Just wondering how does the utility company even have access to your thermostat? Did you enter any information about your utility company when you setup the ecobee? And what are your settings set to for eco+?

Btw, I just read the comments on reddit. And it seems you are right about the eco+ service messing with the temperatures and unfortunately a forced update. Hopefully that crap doesn't get rolled out to me. There are ways to disable it seems but they are not as obvious as they should be.
