Community Ryzen loner cpu?

Regarding all the motherboards out there, that can be bought for cheap or used, that need to be updated, but require an older gen ryzen to do so:
What's faster? Filling out a loner request on AMD's site and waiting for it to arrive, or having someone from Reddit, Slickdeals, or some tech forum site, send you out a cpu only, in a dual padded envelope, for the shipping cost of $3, and get it within 2-3 days via Priority Mail?
It would be great if we could do something like that.

Although, I kind of forget that the pins on these Ryzens are on the chip, unlike Intels. And there has to be a limit to how many times a community loner chip can be exchanged, without bending a pin, and not noticing it.

It all depends on how badly _You_ want your new system up and running, absolute fastest would be a local pc repair shop, could probably have it going the same day. Speed or cheap, you can only pick one.

A friend of mine took his to a MicroCenter before work and they did the bios update for him and he picked it up that same day. I forgot exactly, I think it was only $25, but it was definitely cheaper than trying to buy a cheap cpu and faster than waiting for the loaner. See if there's a local pc repair shop that might be able to do it if you are not near a MicroCenter. I think Anything over $30 for a bios update would be a rip off but YMMV depending where you live.

bulb save money by checking your insurance every 2 years (and not every 20) Thanks Liberty Mutual for reminding me to shop. The $842 increase this year sums it up. Across the board increase for Ohio....whatever
