Looking for mobile carrier promotional deal

4 10 August 31, 2019 at 02:45 PM
In San Diego previously had Xfinity mobile which I was satisfied with. I switched over to Visible because I had heard decent things and they were pretty cheap. However, the service in San Diego has been abysmal. Even with full bars / signal strength, my internet speeds have typically been less than 0.5Mbps, that's when the internet doesn't time out altogether. My calls drop all the time and many of my text messages don't go through. Very disappointing and surprising, as both Xfinity and Visible ran on the Verizon network.

I can't go back to Xfinity (I guess now you need to be an Xfinity internet customer, and Xfinity doesn't service San Diego; when I got Xfinity I was initially in San Francisco). I desperately need to switch to another carrier though, as I basically don't have cell service as things stand now.

I have an iPhone XS Max 256GB, so not really looking to upgrade, and my phone is fully paid off already. Therefore, I can't take advantage of, e.g., the T-mobile deal where T-mobile pays up to ~$650 of phone cost to port over.

Are there any carriers running promotional deals to port over without having to buy a new phone?

Total Wireless?? Verizon Prepaid is also cheaper depending on how many phones you need. You won't get charged per line plus data--it's a flat fee and if you purchase the prepaid cards and apply them--they are usually cheaper and no taxes. Lots of options for you and if you need to port a number in to get a better deal/promotion/phone use google voice# or a cheap phone with service. Plenty of phone threads here to help.
