Various iterations of this keep popping up, and this latest offer is very tempting. But I've had my eye on this laptop:
https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Displ...07RF1XD36/

Any thoughts on which of these two would make a casual laptop user happier? Thanks!

So many good deals on intel i3 laptops in the past week. What's going on? Are we having a major tech release soon and the retailers are getting rid of old stock or what?

No touchscreen.
No IPS.
No backlit keyboard.

At an effective cost of ~$285+tax, the price is almost right.

At the current price, the Acer is ~$35 pricier and needs upgrades to memory and SSD, which will cost ~$60.
For about $100 more, you get a better build, backlit keyboard, and no need to mess with upgrades.

Neither is a popping deal.

The Acer has only 4GB memory. That's not enough in 2019. Open a few tabs on browser and you're basically done lol.

Very true. I planned to upgrade to 8GB of memory and a 256GB drive, which takes the overall price up about $100 over the S340 here. But the Acer has a backlit keyboard and IPS display, whereas I think the S340 has neither. So I keep going back and forth and buying neither lol

My bare minimum is 250 nits. When I shop for laptops I usually go for 300+ nits.

I just went to check to see why I hadn't received a shipping notification email, and these jackwads cancelled my order w/out even so much as a courtesy email.
And of course the department I need to speak to is closed today...
This makes me a tad bit furious.
I was happy, thought I'd actually found a good deal. Now I have no idea what I should do, and my current laptop is literally falling apart.
Anyone have a suggestion? I doubt this will even get seen but I don't have the wherewithal to search atm...

Yea but you are limited to 720p on low requirement games like Fortnite.
