Maybe it is, maybe it isn't. That post just says don't buy the $229 subwoofer - go buy something thats $700-$XXXX. The only user on that post who actually bought one was happy with it. Klipsch is not well beloved due to it "home theatre in a box" with audiophiles, so who its impossible judge. Reviews on amazon, crutchfield, etc are all good.

Recommending a $700+ 15" subwoofer without even knowing room size or even how his sound system compares sounds crazy to me. If your running a $1200 - Klipsch set your not going to buy a $700 subwoofer

Tnx op!
Anyone have experience with these? I would like a higher-end rhythmic sub or similar & grab something on sale to use while I do my research. but my problem is I have a 1 bd loft 1400sqft loft, 30 ft ceilings, all windows, concrete floors downstairs. I know most would say I need 2+ subs but I need not to spend 3k on subs then move in a year or two to a house with a smaller media room situation...or an apt where neighbors would cry from the vibrations.

Haha! Sometimes I wish I did so I wouldn't have to unbox all the stuff I have. They are built like those tall townhomes in the inner cities but one 2 story and lofts so it's all open :/ I wish I could measure exactly but don't have to correct tools. Bit of a challenge doing HT here

Sorry for noob question, but how does this compare to the Monoprice Monolith 10" subwoofer or SVS PB-1000? They're both almost double the price, but are they any better?

I picked up one of these a year or so ago for $219 from Frys. While I would prefer the Klipsch 15" 115sw, this is a screaming deal since that sub would be $900 + $80 for the wireless kit. The wireless kit is absolutely required for any sub and you will spend more in wire and frustration than the $80 kit cost. So if you back out the kit cost since it's included in this deal, you are getting a good 12" sub for $150. I've seen the 115SW for $600 on deal so you could buy 3 of these for the same price and still be ahead.

As for the sound, I have 20' ceilings in my large 25' x 30' room. The sub has no issues at all driving it for what I use. It does get a bit over it's head in a few situations but for my needs, 98% of the time it's perfect.

A quick search also shows many more disappointments from others

Seems like a good deal... just wish I watched more movies on the TV to justify. I feel like I've already wasted ~1500 on my amp, surround sound speakers, etc that never get used. Nothing super fancy mind you.

To those that have spent thousands on their system... are you getting full 5.1/7.1 from streaming services?

Don't get me wrong, it's awesome hearing a heli or something fly around you, but I have only seen that if I pop in a bluray disk.

In this day and age, it just seems easier to grab a good laptop with a gac/amp and use a really good set of cans.
