No. This light isn't a flash. The light stays on and is made for shooting video. It is really only useful if they want to shoot video with their DSLR.

I have this light. It's very bright and compact. And yes this is a continuous video light. It is exactly same as IKAN onyx 120 (which I also own) but this one has barn doors and Ikan doesn't. But Ikan comes with a battery and this one doesn't. Also for this model you can use the remote to control your light (temp and brightness) but need to purchase the remote separately. I would buy this over IKAN model for barn doors and remote control features.

Lots of thumbs up and I don't know much about camera lighting, but would this be a good gift for someone who shoots wildlife at evening/night?

Or just good as a gift for a DSLR user?

Thanks!

this is "continuous lighting" designed for people shooting handheld video at close range (within 10 feet). Think vlogger, or wedding videographer, or on-the-street interviews.

What about videoing wildlife relatively close up?

well at that price a battery would make it an amazing deal. But if you are looking for good cheap reliable batteries, these Powerextras will keep these lights running all day. https://www.amazon.com/Powerextra-Replacement-MVC-CD1000-DCR-VX2100E-NEX-FS700RH/dp/B01N8PEH90/ref=s... [amazon.com]

And then the costs don't stop there, because that included charger doesn't have the power to charge a battery that big in a reasonable amount of time. Like it could literally take more than a day to charge one. Now you gotta drop another 40-50 bucks on a battery charger.

This doesn't really look like a "deal" to me.

Genaray makes some okay stuff in the $500+ price range, but based on lumen output and CRI rating these look no different than the 144 LED panels you can get from amazon everyday for $35.

Yes, but I don't get why he even did this. You can now outfit shops with super bright leds and even just replace your standard swing arm lamp with a led bulb. Savage over-complicated something he has the means to do properly.

Either way if that is what you want. This is the type of light used.
