$40 combo discount

Good deal if looking to build ITX. X470 but claims to be Ryzen 3000 ready.

$180 motherboard is not a bottom feeder. And this is Ryzen 5.

These CPUs came out less than 2 months ago, so naturally there are not many sales.

What we need is 3700 non-X version, but that probably will not happen.

A better comparison would be buying a 4K TV and not being able to watch 8K when that becomes more common. Especially on an itx board like this, it's more limited use and likely unnecessary and unnoticeable to most users. 2500MB/s read speed with an m.2 NvME drive is already ridiculously fast. Your 1080p analogy would be better applied to SATA drives, which would cap out at around 500MB/s. In any case, If someone is looking to build a small form factor budget system, this isn't a bad place to start.

If you have a Microcenter by you, you can pick up a Ryzen 3600 and a MSI B450 Tomahawk for $265 before tax. Maybe bundle some other items too for more discounts.

Seems good, best bang for buck CPU of the 3000 series.

If PCIe 4.0 (and 5Gbps PCIe 4.0 NVME) is your thing, you'll want to pass on X470.

Support & stability are iffy and if you do manage to find an X470 that supports PCIe 4.0 it will be disabled in subsequent BIOS updates at the request of AMD to mobo manufacturers.

That's disheartening, thanks for pointing that out. Definitely a solid buy but not as future proof as I'd hoped for. Getting the 7nm architecture onboard is my primary reason for upgrading now. Buying this mobo would be like purchasing a 4K TV only to later be capped at streaming 1080p. Still a great buy though. Thank you and repped.

So will this work with the 3600 out the box? I know some boards have bios problems.

I don't see how this is a good deal, it is about market price for 3600+mini itx, unless you want X470 for... ?

Correct. No sli/crossfire, possibly worse overclocking, less chance of stable upgrade to more power-hungry CPU. It really depends on the board.
