For me, I had a gtx 2080ti fail with corruption and system locks, had to RMA it, and it was nice to be able to keep working on my computer for the week or so it took to send and receive a new one. My friend and I were troubleshooting his system not posting, and we wasted a lot of time thinking it was the cpu, motherboard, psu, motherboard problem. We ended up buying this cpu, and got the same problem but couldn't test without the gfx card that ended up being the real faulty culprit. Only after we pulled another gfx card from another system were we able to see. Also, these chips are so new that if you don't get a newer motherboard or a newer stock of older motherboards with a bios after April 2019, you might not be able to get it to boot without a surrogate intel 7 or 8 series to update the bios with.

After having a need for integrated graphics in a pinch for both myself and a friend of mine, I'm hard-pressed to recommend this vs. a standard chip with IGP.

Sheesh! I'm not an expert when it comes to CPUs and mobos. That last part makes me nervous about this.

Same price at bestbuy (yesterday, anyway). I almost bought this but as another poster said I'd have to upgrade my motherboard too.

Excellent point about the BIOS--I've run into that problem where I didn't flash an MB and couldn't boot--had to vivisect another machine to solve that one.

I always keep a spare (cheap) gfx card around to avoid the issue you had (right now it's a 2GB GT 1030 I picked up for $30 on eBay). Given that the IGU costs $60 (i5-9400 is $190), the economist in me has trouble agreeing with the always-buy-with-IGU logic. Smilie

Wow, that seems extremely cheap for an i5! Is this a lower end i5 or is it only cheaper due to the lack of integrated graphics? If you're gonna use a GPU anyway then this sounds like a great deal!
