I have the 520C and love it. It's a very good center at any price, and at this price it's beyond being a steal. It also is easy to pair with other speakers. My front L and R speakers are Dahquist DQ-10s, which were hard to match, and the 520C blends with them seamlessly (to my great initial surprise). I have JBL Studio 530s in the back, and had them as front L & R for a while, and that's a fantastic setup too.

Should I go with these JBL 520 centers or the polk S30?

Well your going to want to match your center with your other speakers also.
So which speakers do you prefer between JBL and Polk will determine which one you might want to go with.

Dang it... told my wife I would take the month off from spending on tools, electronics, and gym equipment...

my energy take 5 classics look anemic next to my 65"... I'm thinking the 520c paired with the studio 220 and a pair of in ceiling JBL for the rear...

How would this center pair with JBL SPII8 in wall fronts, sides and ceiling rears? Overpowering? 7.2 sys. Thanks Chaps.

Well just understand that the 220's may not look anemic but whether it's a upgrade in AQ is another question.
You might want to take a listen before making that change to find out if it's even an upgrade and if so if it's worth it to you.
Not sure how you would mount/use the 220's but I would point out they are rear ported.

That's exactly what I run except I have the 590's as my front L/R. I will say the studio 5's over power the in-walls by a TON. But tonally I don't notice a difference. You should be good. This center is a great buy especially at this price.

Wharfedale Linton Heritage.
Thank me later. They just sound better. Better? How?

Detail, clarity without being harsh when pushed (JBL)
Immense soundstage will make you feel as though you are right there live with the instruments.
Airy vocals...

The JBLs produce more bass.
That's all.
