Obligatory "this is only the 4 series" post.

Looks like a pretty good price for the size / brand for those who aren't looking for the absolute latest and greatest.

All time lowest was BF at 399 so not too bad.

I didnt care if it was a 4 series but that prime day deal of the 75 inch for $400 that bestbuy cancelled , it still annoys me lol. 4 series are actually the best for monitor use, im using a 43" one currently

Not bad for a first 65 at this price. Use it for a monitor in my studio.

This is an 'ok' TV. But considering similar model was sold at both best buy and walmart for $400 on last BF, it is not an excellent deal. You might get better deal on other brands or from other sellers.

Picked this up last BF for $399 and it's been a great bedroom tv. This is still a good deal imo.

If it sounds too good to be true...then you're shopping on Monoprice.

Why are they good/best for monitor use?

An specific features or attributes that makes them good for monitor use?

Does anyone know if there are large TV displays that will operate as a monitor specifically for auto power on/off state?

Or is there any workaround that anyone knows about?

Looked for that information, and the closest I have seen is CEC support...but I don't think that is the complete functionality needed for that use.

Ugh, can't decide between this and the Hisense R7...

I'm not seeing the free in-store pickup option. Shipping for $80 kills the deal.

I recall HDTV Test guy comparing this TV to a comparable Hisense: "TCL engineers just get it" I guess that's saying you have to look at the sum of the parts, the total pkg including OS like Roku.

I keep hearing 4 series isn't bright enough. For what? It doesn't do peak nits for good HDR but it's got a lot going for it. the 55s4xx was is still great in my bright cabin with windows, even better at night. You just have to tweak it, practically in torch mode but good enough for general streaming. Has good contrast and colors pop even at an angle.

Yea, the Hisense R7 isn't bright either, but the Hisense does have a partial local dimming? Not sure.

The main draw for me is the potential to pricematch in the future through Citi, and the special SKU through Sam's Club would limit me. I guess it wouldn't be unfathomable for Sam's Club to sell the 4 series again later on cheaper. I don't believe the 4 series is getting ended?
