This looks pretty sweet! Too bad I'm not in the market, since this checks All is the boxes (except that I've had an aversion to HP since we had a string of failures on computers in the 90s... It's time for me to move on! Haha). Thanks for the post!

Think you speak for a lot of folks in regards to the aversion towards HP computers.

Even then, 1.4K for a 1650??? That's not going to cut it for a 4K panel.

What brand do you recommend? I'm a desktop guy and used to building exactly what I want. I need a notebook now and the Spectre was on top of my list but discussions around HP and Dell QC has me holding off.

On the other hand the Huawei Matebook X Pro gets great reviews but I'm really just finding it at the Microsoft Store and not in stock locally.

It is going to cut it perfectly for 4K panel and this is not a gaming computer.

1. Do I wait for the next gen i7?
2. Good for Premiere video editing? I like the 4k panel, mainly for video editing real estate
3. Would this be suitable for minor gaming (I practice drone flying using a simulator, Velocidrone ; that's the only game I play)?

Hey mate, the HPs of today are solid. We use them at work with 14k employees. When I ordered my wife's Spectre in 2017 directly from their website, it came with a refundable extended warranty. We've since used the warranty on a replacement touchscreen due to defect but the support and quality of the laptop is amazing.

Don't get sucked into their image bullshit that people pander around. Think for yourself 😉

My 2018 Spectre x360 has been fantastic, love the 4k touch panel & the pen. It really changed my views about HP.

1. There will always be a next gen i7 in the near future, you should check if the current gen is good for you.
2. Cpu wise, yes, however the ram and gpu are subject to the work you're doing with premiere or how heavy Nd demanding are your projects. If you're working mainly with 4k footage I woukd say the fact the ram is on-board (and not upgradeable) is a deal breaker.
3. Not much of a gamer, so sorry but cant help you here

Their zbooks are terrible. Our company uses them and they have a high failure rate. I'm on my 2nd replacement now and its about to die any day. I'm sure the poor air flow contributes to these.

Look into the Lenovo Y540 series. Reviews have been pretty good for these laptops; got one myself and so far so good.

I've got an older Spectre x360 15 and it's honestly a great laptop. Little heavy, but it looks great and performs well enough. With the little mx150 on my system I can play some games. Have had no issues, and would purchase another. What I really want is the 13 inch to get a dedicated gpu. That'd be perfect for my needs.
