I hesitate to post this because things can be majorly misconstrued on the internet but it's unlikely using Smile makes much of a difference. Big companies generally budget a set amount for charitable donations ahead of time. That $100 million would likely have been donated by Amazon even if Smile didn't exist.

The program is really just a way for Amazon to get some extra free word of mouth publicity on money they were already planning to donate. The reminder to use Smile is also basically a subtle ad reminding customers that the company is "good" and not evil.

And again I hope this doesn't read like I'm attacking or putting down Ms. Arteest. They obviously love charities and that's amazing! I just wanted to point out how deceptive corporations can be when it comes to their charitable contributions. Cheers
I've done charitable fund raising on a national level, so, believe me, I know how PR and marketing work for corporations. (Worked in those two areas, too!). I also know that Amazon is in this for the bottom line. I do like that i choose my charity. The amount that i generate each year, from my purchases, is less that i give to St. Jude each month. I have seen, in the reporting from St. Jude, how much Amazon gives and its substantial. Treating one child takes over $1million. That's for average treatment and doesn't include things such as bone marrow transplants. Every little bit helps. ❤. But again, I'm not blind to why the do it.

You will be grabbed by one of the employees and boxed for shipping with no packing material for protection.

They seem to use useless packing ( or no packing ) material for specific items anyways.

I used to buy waterless car wax from them but stopped because nearly 80% of the time the bottle would explode or leak. What was worse is when they shipped items together with the car wax .. they would get wet and sometimes ruined.

It would be nice if the employees or their system properly trained individuals on how to ship liquids. Either put the liquids on a specific enclosed bag in case it does leak or ship it separately and alone from any other item

So your going to spend what,,20 50 dollars to travel to a Amazon warehouse so they can donate 5 dollars,,...?...

Donate your travel cost plus 5 bucks, and feel good about yourself, instead of just looking stupid.

The $5 donation is nice and all, but it wasn't the determining factor for me to go on the tour. I was already planning to take the tour anyway. $5 donation to charity and free metal water bottle are nice bonuses.

Yeah, right - no way in heck they'd create another opportunity for bad PR like that.

(Although I wouldn't put it past Bezos & co to have "tours" with stooges pretending to be the workers fighting to unionize - they'd act like complete assholes to give the real workers a bad rep.)

What an incredibly bad straw man argument. Like we're all "valued" at anywhere NEAR $150 billion. No, we're all squeezed to get as much work for as little money as possible so those at the top can get even more money that they'll never need. We're struggling to survive while the aggressive control freaks get virtually all the benefit from our work. Screw your condescension and lack of perspective.
No need to get all hot and bothered by my comments. I see that you've limited all of your options and can't get a job other than at the bottom.
Maybe take some of that fire that you have, work on developing a new skill and get ahead, unless the 'filthy crooks at the top' have already stopped you there too.
Screw your wallowing in self pity. I am not looking to blame others for my choices, and if I don't like something, I'll make a change.

Amusing and perhaps telling that you waited this long to reply. Your assumptions about my employment and current living standards are also telling. Unlike you I do not consider my fellow human can be a potential victim in a dog-eat-dog world. I have compassion unlike the people you look up to.

Just got back from the tour. I felt as if..... my brain was on autopilot. Bezos entered the room and flashed me with a light the size of a pen. As soon as I knew it, I had packaged offered 4,000 boxes within 4 hrs

Hot
Loud and
Dusty

When I went they had no respirators. It was very dark in there except for the red glow from the furnace. Asbestos fibers filled the air. I felt sick to my stomach.

I asked one gentleman how he liked working there.

"Just kill me", he said.

We heard a loud smash. A woman had just been crushed by one of the compactors.

Seconds later, another gentleman was crushed between 2 giant gears when the machine he was working on started running again.

I went into Beezo's office.

"What did you do with the bodies"

He pretended he didn't know how to speak English.

"Don't play stupid with me. I've been a detective for 27 years before being fired for sexual misconduct."

He pressed a button and two orbs (drones?) carried me away and dropped me in a large acid bath where I died.
