Is this one worth the $200 more?

https://slickdeals.net/f/13361032-alienware-m17-laptop-intel-core-i7-9750h-17-3-1080p-ips-16gb-ddr4-256gb-ssd-1tb-hdd-rtx-2060-win-s10-1260-76-ac-free-shipping-dell

$200 gets you the i7-9750H (rather than 8750), 16GB RAM (rather than 8GB), plus a 256SSD+1TB HD (rather than the 1TB Hybrid drive).

Is this the 2019 model with the RAM soldered on that you cant update. I'll check in a bit but if anyone knows...

edit: nvm meant to post this in the other thread with the 9750 cpu

Mustang is not high quality...should have compared it to a Lexus instead.

This is the cheapest laptop for machine learning purpose as it's equipped with a tensor-cores GPU. As a beginner to ML, I think it's a good deal for me.

It's not bad... but these BGA systems are so prone to failure that to me the 3-4 year warranty is required. Look at the forums for the AW17 R4, R5, etc. The quality control has gone way down and now they are acting like Apple and starting to solder the RAM and wifi card on-top of the CPU and GPU. Not this model, but they started with the 17m v2 rev.

Alienware was built around customizing your PC - I can pull my CPU, GPU, and everything else almost out of my AW17 R1. After 5 years of ownership (2013 model).. it still boots up Win10 in 8 seconds and runs like a dream and I can drop in 980m or higher card if I wanted to game faster. The system is rarely used for gaming though.

So, if you are not fine with a single warranty then the outlets (with potentially other discounts of 10-20% here and there) may be better. Granted, you may not find the exact config you want... The outlet 4y + AC is several hundred dollars less than new for almost the identical system(s).

These systems run SUPER HOT - or that's what I have been reading on the forums. Plus, you almost need to re-paste and use a cooling pad.

If you guys are looking for Dell then I would suggest looking at Dell outlet. I have got two laptops from outlet and worked perfectly fine. Just got another one yesterday with a great deal. Dell G7 15 (7590) i7 9750h w/ 16gb, 256 ssd + 1tb and rtx 2060 6gb, added 3 years premium warranty, 6% cb with dell finance. Total price $1240. Recommend talking to the sales rep for more discounts.

Anyone with feedback on dell financing? I've generally heard bad things so for elsewhere on the web.
Not sure what you have heard but I financed my alienware r5 ($1500) and have not had any issues. 0% interest and as long as you make the payments on time, you will keep the rate.

I financed my r5 alienware via dell at 0% and have not had any issues. Simply make payments on time and keep it moving. Checked my account recently and they bumped my CL up by another $500 even though i have no need for it.
