This is a full desktop replacement so don't expect it to be light. I have the 17R1 from 2 years ago (funny enough bought it off a SD deal back then for pretty much around the same price).

Still own it to this day and running fine and not a single h/w issue. It came with a Nvdia 980GTX which has been decent (I mainly play COD at 4k). Fans do kick in a lot during gunfights, etc but overall a VERY solid gaming laptop that actually delivers like it claims.

I'm a field engineer by profession so take this with me when I'm out of town and staying in hotels overnight so I can get my daily gaming sessions :-).

My gaming setup is pretty simple ...this laptop+34" HP Omen gaming monitor+Xbox One controller+some random Amazon gaming mouse/keyboard and external Logitech speakers. I did upgrade the RAM to 16gb and upgraded the 2nd bay with a SSD drive for my games.

Actually, it depends... if it's 1070 desktop version. It'll smoke this one RTX 2060 (MOBILE), the mobile version of 2060 (what this one has) is not very powerful and they don't even tell you that this is a gimped version of RTX 2060 (desktop vers). Kinda misleading us, all the laptops with RTX 2060 (mobile) actually is a very weak version of RTX 2060 desktop...
It is cool that my gtx 1080 mobile could get 1925mhz 5% slower than my gtx 1080 desktop. I am not the fan of rtx but gtx 1070 nowaday even desktop version is kind of shitty when you could get rtx 2060 with a good price.

I've used it multiple times since 2012. What could possibly be bad about it? All 0% interest financing deals are the same: make at least the minimum monthly payment, and make sure you pay off the entire balance by the time the promotional period is up. In the latter case you're kinda screwed because that's what they're hoping you'll do so you fall into debt and pay more than you borrowed but they might also forgive that too if all your previous payments have been on time.

Literally the only time you'll have problems is if you miss a payment (most finance providers will allow at least one missed payment per promotion, you just have to call and apologize and ask for the fees to be waived, plus pay over the phone) or don't pay the balance when the promo period is up. Samsung Financing once called me saying I was overdue despite the fact they'd never sent me a statement. Paid over the phone, all was forgiven, and the statements came on time after that.

I've used Dell Finance, Klarna, Newegg Finance (wrong name?), Home Depot, Lowe's, Ashley Furniture, CareCredit, Samsung Financing etc ... the terms are the same. Stick to them and you'll be just fine. People who have problems pretty much always do because they missed a payment date and didn't clear it up with the lender.
Same here. If it weren't for no interest financing I wouldn't have half the stuff I have and I always make sure it's paid off in time

Anyone know how the upgraded battery works? You get a 4 cell removable battery or a 6 cell integrated that you can't replace? I noticed it forces you to change the hard drive from default it you try to upgrade the battery.

Edit: You do loose the 2.5 inch bay to upgrade to the larger battery

This has the regular RTX 2060. The upgrade options (RTX 2070 and 2080) are Max Q however.

I'd have found a way to convince my wife to let me buy this if it weren't for the 60Hz screen. Bummer. For this price, something obviously had to give.

Was this or the g3 deal yesterday and I've read the build quality is much better on these on top of the obvious additions I think it's worth the premium 550 vs 1300 different categories but a much better laptop.
