I shoulda bought when Lowes had the Pitboss for $200 earlier this year. My Master-built electric smoker just started messing up last month where it doesn't burn the chips enough to produce smoke anymore. Gonna hold off in hopes the price goes lower.
Oh no, my Masterbuilt barely created any smoke when I used it last week. I was hoping it was a one-time thing, but your post has me nervous.

I bought the mb mes that was a slick deal last year. From the gist of my reading, in hot outside temps the heating element may not cycle enough or long enough to ignite the wood. Try using smaller pieces or maybe open the vent fully. I got the cold smoke attachment to smoke cheeses and such. They say you can get 8hrs of smoke though I have yet to...

Anyone know what size vehicle I'd need for the 1000 Sq ft? Wondering if I could get it in the back of a QX60

One of the Walmarts in my area is showing inventory and wanted one of these smokers for a while.
it should fit. if anything unbox it and leave the box in the parking lot.

Your heating rod might need to be replaced if its the same setup as a Traeger. You can test your rod by sticking a thermometer in it... Google what temperature its supposed to get to ignite the pellets.
Mine uses chips not pellets. I already tested the element and it holds temp. I still cooked the butt the last time I used it but with minimal smoke flavor. The first load of chips wont even burn enough to the point where I can add more.

Imo cheap electric smokers are disposable as after doing tons of research it's common they don't last very long. Even these Pit Boss's have their issues.

If you end up keeping the mb smoker, buy the mb cold smoker and connect it via vent tubing to have hours of clean smoke for $50
When I initially bought mine I wanted to cold smoke and saw that on Amazon for $45. I waited on purchasing then the price rose to $60+ so I held off. Now the price is steady $60+ but sold out at just about every retailer. For $50 I'd cave in if you know of a place to buy.

I did tons of research on the issue but none of the fixes worked for me. There are a few other recommendations I'm trying in hopes it fixes it. A friend of mine had the problem and ended up throwing his away. I might just use my warranty in hopes to upgrade as I will say I'm limited on space on what I can cook in that thing.

Here's a thread on the topic in case you want to check it out-https://www.smoker-cooking.com/smokers-not-smoking-using-masterbuilt-electric-smoker.html

Z-Grills has BOGO on the 700e unit. I'm a strong Treager user. But I picked up one of these grills on Craigslist for $100. Despite the fact that I bought it for $100 (new/used), this unit feels a lot tougher and stronger. My current Z unit get up to 450°-500°. Makes grilling a lot better and easier.

I got an mes30 from a deal on here about 2 years ago, still going strong. It sits outside under a covered patio, but exposed to the elements since I got it. What I first did was take out that chip tube and never used it. I got some dryer hose to funnel smoke in through that opening, other end attached to a cheap mailbox I got from home depot, that is used as a separate smoke box.
Google mes smoker mailbox mod, that's what I did and its has worked great. I bought the A-maze-n pellet tray to use as the smoke source, that way the amount of smoke generated is independent of the smoker and temperature control. You control the amount of smoke you want at the temp you want. Below is a similar product as the tray, same company, except it's a tube form and doesn't hold as much pellets as the tray, but will work...and sold at Walmart and being clearanced right now as well:

https://brickseek.com/walmart-inv...u=40674076

I'm going to grab a couple of these tubes since it's dropped to $5 at a Walmart near me... just fill it with pellets and put it inside on the bottom, if I want extra smoke (even though the tray already produces good smoke by itself).
