I went to this sandwich shop the first time last week when I had a free sandwich coupon. Being a vegetarian and looking at how they make the sandwich I stepped out and never to back in.
Definitely not a vegetarian type of sandwich shop. I love their sandwiches.

The regular size subs are typically $8 so -$2 off coupon is great! I'll use this probably 4-5 times this month, I love Jersey Mike's subs.

YMMV, but I couldn't use this coupon today on a Giant sub. Staff said regular only, but tried to scan it anyway. No go...

Still freakin' expensive even after the coupon....
Their $5 after 5 promo is the best one they have going. Basically another giant sub of equal or lesser value for an additional $5 after 5pm. We get 2 giant clubs for $20.70 out the door, basically $10 each, and you get 4 sections on each packed sub - basically $2.50 per 5" section. Crazy good deal.

This is why I prefer Jimmy John's. Companies are losing valuable revenue by not offering better selections for those with a plant-based diet.

Every time I go to Subway I fill out the survey and express to them that they need a menu option to substitute guac for cheese. If I go to Subway to get a veggie sub I'm paying for the cheese I'm not going to eat. Why not sub it out instead of making me then pay extra?
Because guac is WAY more expensive than cheese. Duh. Why would they eat more of the profit on the sandwich with a free upgrade to a more expensive component because you don't want cheese?

And the fact that you eat at Subway at all means you don't really care about what you're putting in your body, despite appearances. EVERYTHING at Subway is gross now. All the way from the bread on up.

Wow. I was wondering where I went wrong in life, and you really straightened me out. Here I was thinking that maybe I shouldn't be a judgemental douche, but you've taught me just the opposite. Thank you for that.

Well, don't count on making a living at sarcasm because you're terrible at that, too.

Wow! So many comments being downvoted for accurately pointing out the high prices here. A 7" sub is $8+. People get that it is significantly better than Subway, but today you can get an 11" - 12" sub at many places (grocery stores, especially) that is packed with good quality meat for around $7 - $8. Deli meat really isn't THAT expensive.. I know, because I get around 2 lbs sliced a week at the supermarket and make my own sandwiches.

I think the main problem here is the chain model for these types of restaurants (subway, quizno, jersey mike's, etc.) has too many people involved trying to make a profit that it just adds costs to the final product. Somehow, the burrito chains, which I would think have way more food expenses than the sub chains, seem to offer a lot more value for the same $8.

I don't think you're wrong here, however, I am still a Jersey Mike's fan. I also wish they were cheaper, but I feel you get what you pay for to some extent, and also when you look at subway for example you have the size of the company playing a part, as you said in the profit they can make per sandwich.

That said, some people are ok making their own and keeping the costs down. If you're going to eat out, you have to pay for the convenience of having someone make you a meal.

Please teach me, kemosobe! Bowdown

In all seriousness, though, that was passive aggressiveness. It wasn't sarcasm. You shouldn't think that because something is mentioned as an alternative that it's a constant. I eat subway 3 times a year. I have an opinion on how they could model their business like Jimmy John's because I'm a consumer who has patronized both. I'm okay if you have your opinion, but whether you know it or not, I don't care about your opinion. Have a great weekend, and find someone else to troll.
