HP 128GB x900w USB 3.0 Flash Drive $8.49 shipped at Staples B&M after PM

Staples has the HP 128GB x900w USB 3.0 flash drive listed on their website [staples.com] for 79.99. Place a kiosk order in store and check out with a cashier, using this valid 14.99 price match from Best Buy [bestbuy.com] and with their 110% price match, this comes to $8.29 plus tax, and free shipping on all kiosk orders.

Pasting the model number directly from the BB website into the search bar on Staples.com pulls up this exact drive, so verification shouldn't be an issue for more stubborn managers, but you have to do this in store since staples.com support no longer price matches online. Good luck!

That's amazing! Especially the 4k read/write is pretty solid. I hope this 128gb is the same
I got one from amazon and the results are terrible.

100 MB/s reads / 30-35 MB/s writes

Actual data transfer of 75gb file the write speeds fluctuate from 30 to all the way down to 0.

Yuck, hopefully it's useable for ps classic, a couple comments that they are not reliable but good reviews on bestbuy and amazon. Let's hope for the best, can't beat the price, but if they are junk........

Wow, colossally bad read/write speeds on mine as well. I would test the other two but I might just return them. Maybe people will have better luck with the 256gb. Buyer beware.

Before I try this deal does anyone know how it compares to PNY [staples.com]. I purchased this on dell back in April when it was a slickdeal for $30 but it kept giving me errors so I sent it to PNY and they shipped me out another one. I'm trying to sell that one to get a better brand since it died on me so quickly.

Seems all the brands have cheapened their internal chips so good luck. Most start out at a decent transfer speed and then dump real low.
I have had mixed results with PNY.
My HP works fine as well as SanDisk, just don't expect great speeds.Smilie
PNY has been my only hard failure.
Interesting in that I did a NFTS format on the PNY and it did better.
On exfat and fat 32 it took 8 hours to fill a 32GB stick.

The early 128GB PNY Turbos were the fastest USB 3.0 flash drives I've owned, able to do 150MB/s+ write speed. Bought more a couple years later and the write speeds had dipped to 80MB/s on the newer ones, but still the best speed for the money. Unfortunately, these PNY Turbos were also the only hard failure I've had. The 128GB PNY Turbo I'm still using somehow gets corrupted on occasion and I have to do a reformat to fix. Have tried NTFS and exFAT to see if one or the other is less failure-prone, but both have gotten corrupted. Fast, but not reliable at all.

Hard to find USB 3.0 flash drive deals these days with good write speeds. I assume all the deals, including this one, top out at 30-35MB/s write speed. Even the nicer-looking all-metal Samsung ones.

Go instore and place a kiosk order.

Upon checkout, inform the CSR that you would like to price match bestbuy or Amazon. The CSR should provide a 110% price match for the guidance between the Staples and Amazon price

Yeah mine kept saying corrupted whenever I would plug it into my usb port on my pc and ask to scan and fix. It wouldn't work on usb 3.0 drive so I would have to use the 2.0 ports to get the pc to recognize it. I use mine to back up tv shows to watch on my tv but when I stuck it in my tv it wouldn't play the files. It'd show up and then close out of the menu on my tv. Anyway since this happened so suddenly within a few months of purchase I'm going to try these hp drives and hope they work. I'm not worried about speed since I fill them up overnight and just save my shows on them. I just want them to last once they are filled up.

I was able to get the price at Staples without issue. The cashier only matched 100% initially until I said uh isn't 110% price match lol. They have a button for both on their computer screen so I guess if people aren't in the know they don't tell them lol. laugh out loud

Thank you for the knowledge bomb, it's much appreciated. Quick question - have you noticed (or tested) any difference in reliability or speed when stepping up to 256GB drives?
