Ryobi is running a special on this specific tool set that includes the basic drill/driver, 5.5" circ saw, recip saw, flashlight, 2 x 1.3ah batteries and a standard charger. If you purchase this combo in-store, you can return the batteries and get the tool kit for $88.63.

**From 9/22 through at least 9/29 you can also get an additional 11% rebate via a HD gift card, effectively making the cost of this kit $78.88.**

Normal retail is $179 but they've marked it down to $149 on special and are including a dual pack of 2.0 ah batteries for free. I noted when I purchased the combo at retail, an extra $10 came off of the combo making it $139.

On my receipt, the return value of the "free" batteries is $50.37, so returning those gets you the tool kit for $88.63 before tax. The deal is also available online, but you can't return online purchases in part like you can store combos so it's not valid for this deal.

And to anyone unawares: There are battery adapters to cross-run tools/batts.

I run my Ryobis with Dewalt batts.

You shouldn't charge through an adapter 🔥
Never knew this!!! I have 2 fairly new DeWalt 18V batteries. Would you have a link of the adapter you use?

I already have the drill. Can you return the drill for a partial refund also?

No, you cannot return parts of the kit, Craigslist / Facebook marketplace / LetGo, etc.. would be your best bet.

What wld be critical for many of us to know: Will HD issue a cash refund if payed in cash? CC credit if payed with CC? Or will they only refund it with a store card in thr buyer's name, requiring ID to use?
If planning to buy 3-4 sets to return the batts for credit, anything we need to know about buying them at the same time, at the same store, returning >1 set of batts at same time, etc? Don't want to get blacklisted and have 3 HD's within 15mins of me. Thanks!

I just want to make clear from what I'm reading on the items. So the kit already comes with two batteries? And the pack of another 2 batteries is free? So total 4 batteries?

So if I return the pack of two batteries, I'll still have batteries to use the tools right?

Thanks in advance

Not a big fan of the "buy and return " game. Also these are non-brushless and low amp hour non-HP batteries. I guess for $22 a tool it's good deal for a basic kit if you plan on returning the batteries.

Because you are returning with a receipt, it should be whatever method you used to pay. The store card is usually for out of return period returns or returns without receipts.

I cannot speak about doing it multiple times and getting banned or not.

Your original form of payment is refunded, the only time you get an ID required/store credit is if you are returning something without a receipt in a store managed discretion situation.

It has been my experience that they limit one "free item" promotion per transaction, so you'd likely have to buy each set on it's own receipt, though using the same method of payment for each isn't an issue in my experience.

Before you plan to put your kids through college with profits re-selling these, take a look at the eBay sold history on the same kits. Brand new/sealed they go for around $100-$110 with free shipping... which probably costs the seller $20-30 on top of the 13% cut eBay and Paypal take. The $88.63 figure doesn't include tax so out the door cost on these is likely $95 or so.

I don't think this is going to be a great item for resale if that's your plan. It's a great gift set for someone without a set of battery operated tools or an occasional homeowner use set, something to keep up at the cabin, etc..

Yes, there are 2 x 1.3 ah batteries in the kit, PLUS the additional kit of 2 x 2.0 ah batteries you can keep or return at your discretion.

You should be able to get all but the extra $10 off ordering online and without having to return anything.

Add the tool kit to your cart for store pickup. Add the batteries for free delivery. Place the order, then immediately go in and cancel the batteries before they ship. You shouldn't be charged the $51.63 for the batteries. That leaves $97.37 for the kit (I didn't figure out how to get the extra $10 off).

NB: I have done this successfully before, but it's possible they may have closed the loophole.

This is a decent deal but I really hoped they threw in an impact driver instead of the stupid light in the kit. I just want an impact driver, circular saw, and maybe a reciprocating saw in a kit. That's all.

Worked for me. But, didn't get $10 off.

So, you're saying that you can buy this, get the free batteries that carry an additional return value, and THEN return the main kit and keep the free batteries? I'd think HD would require you to return the free batteries if you wanted a FULL refund.

I understand there is a return value of over $50 on the free batts, but I'm thinking that if you tried just returning the batts, they might require you to return everything and the reason the batts have a value is to prevent people from returning the kit at full price and then keeping the 2 free batts.

Has anyone actually returned the kit for a full refund and been able to keep the free promo batteries?
