I am looking to buy one (1TB+).

How does it compare to Samsung EVO SSD drive?

Edit: An Amazon review says this is a TLC flash kind of drive (?).

It is 3d TLC and will be slightly slower in benchmarks compared to Samsung Evo. But everyday usage you won't be likely to notice a difference unless you regularly transfer multiple gigabytes of files all day long

edit: your verbiage is confusing but this is not a 'flash drive' it's a consumer SATA SSD

Any difference for gaming (planning to build a PC for my son). I'd rather have a 2TB SSD instead of an SSD+HDD solution. Thanks!

I just found out what TLC flash is:

TLC flash (triple-level cell flash) is a type of NAND flash memory that stores three bits of data per cell.

Edit: More interesting stuff:
SLC Single Level Cell > eMLC Enterprise Multi-Level Cell > MLC Multi-Level Cell > TLC Triple-Level Cell

> : better

You forgot QLC (quad) at the far right. Smilie (Samsung QVO, Intel 660p, Crucial P1)

At this point, I don't think there's a single modern SLC drive in retail anymore. Professional flash like the Samsung 970 Pro is MLC, everything mainstream is TLC, and the value drives are trying to push QLC.

FYI, Samsung 860 evo spec says 3 bit-MLC-NAND = TLC-NAND.

The load times will be better with a SSD compared to using a traditional hard drive for data storage (or game files). This would be a good drive to put in the computer you're building. I have the 1tb model in my own personal computer.

Wow....these SSD's have really dropped in price. I can remember when a 2TB SSD sold for over $2000.
