Thanks OP. I ordered 6 (pairs of 2-45's and 1-35) last night, before 45's went OOS.

Any recommendations on Olympic bars? I've done some research, but wanted to see if any forum members had anything to say.

Thanks!
Look at the rep fitness closeout powerslide Bar. I think it's $225 and is an amazingly spec'd bar for the price. Other alternatives are the American barbell bars (medium knurl), Ohio Power Bar (hyper aggressive knurl), fringe sport wonder bar. I've used mostly all bars and must say Rogue makes the top of the list, as well as my old 90's split sleeve York barbell.

And before you get caught in the hype of doing too much research (hey, we all fall into it) - the reality is all 28.5 or 29mm bars are going to perform the same. The only thing you need to decide is: type of knurl, center knurl, finish and diameter.

Does anyone have a recommendation on a dumbbell bar that holds olympic weights? I just ordered 24, 5lb (12 pairs) weights but all the dumbbell bars I have looked up do not have the best reviews.

Edit: This is what I have been considering the past couple weeks.

These are fine and spring clips or clamps are totally a preference thing. I prefer clamps too, plus they're like $10 a pair on amazon.

Look into Titan fitness if you want an inexpensive but quality brand. They usually run 10% discounts across all of their stuff, and I have had nothing but great experiences with their curl bar, loadable dumbbells and hex bar. It's not Rogue or Eleiko quality, but for the price it's more than worth it.

Ah missed out. Was a good deal... better than rusty used ones on Craigslist that sell $1 or $1> a pound.

Just a tip, cancel your order if you haven't received yours yet. I just received mine and they're all rusting and in pretty bad shape. That and if you shake the weight they have sand or something inside lol.

Absolutely not. Old rusted plates have stood the test of time. If you stick with good brands like York, ivanko, even Standard barbell.. you're going to get better quality than the newer cheaper stuff like CAP or this deal. If you don't believe me, see the above comment from someone who received it!

*also should be hunting for $.50-.75/lb. definitely shouldn't be paying $1/lb unless it's a solid brand.

Damn man. Can you attach pictures? I was literally going to replace all 700lbs of my iron plates with this deal and am glad I didn't.

I hope you can return them!!

Never thougth of that. Bad thing is I'm allergic to rust and get itchy. Maybe I can get my brother to clean them up for me if I find any good ones. Though the ones in my area just plain suck they are none of those good brands.

You could always restore plates yourself. It's actually really easy to do.

Buy some old rusted plates, soak in 50/50 water and vinegar mix for a day, hit it with a wire wheel on a power tool, clean, dry and then it it with some rustoleum.

I also agree with this. Two of the 45's I ordered are so damaged they can't be placed on the bar, I am missing one 5 and a 10 while half of those that I did receive are covered with rust. This is going to be a PITA to deal with returning but at least Walmart will lose money after paying to ship over 400lbs through FedEx.
