Tumi isn't what it once was. Not sure it's worth the substantial premium, even after the discount...

deal is live.

Agree that Tumi isn't what it once was. Used to be you could trust the name. Now, you really have to be careful. They put their name on a lot of things, especially accessories (usb batteries, etc..) that are really sub par. A few of their lines are still made in the USA with a very high quality control with a lifetime warranty. Make sure you check the reviews of a product before you buy it to know whether it's still high quality or crap.

The reason this sale is good is because their quality lines NEVER go on sale. Last night I purchased their tri-fold garment bag which I had been looking at for years, and never found it discounted. Bag retails at $625 in their "alpha" line with a lifetime warranty. I know this will be the last business travel piece of luggage I will ever buy.

I can't see the items that are normally on sale. I have to search for them in the search bar. Anyone else has this issue?

The outlets range in discount from 10%-50% depending on the item. I would say if you're not looking for one specific item you can find a better discount at the outlet, but it's usually a crapshoot as far as what's on sale and for how much. If you have one closer visit frequently, that's your best chance at getting a good deal.

I honestly don't see how any piece of luggage is worth more than $1,000. If anything, this brand name just screams "steal me!" as it arrives in baggage claim or goes through checked baggage security.

Agree with other posters about Tumi quality, especially since they are owned by Samsonite now. I would only consider Alpha branded products.

I purchased a discounted Alpha Split Duffel several years ago and it has been extremely durable. Anyone know where I can purchase a new Split Duffel at a discount?

Ah, no wonder some of the Samsonite bags look like Tumi knock-offs.
