Or you could get latest intel cpu, more ram and larger ssd for same price. You lose the 2 in 1 capability and if you use that then that will be a loss. Otherwise I would go with the latest. This new intel cpu is slated to beat the pants off previous gens.

3.84 lbs for a 13.3" seems to be on the heavy side. Is the 2 in 1 function adding a lot of weight?
I have the 15" version and wanted to get the 13" for the wife but weight was a concern. The best comparable option was a Lenovo yoga 730 2-in-1 13" which is about 2.5 lbs and also has a better battery and usb c charging/thunderbolt. It is more expensive though but was just recently $521 through perks at work or $611 otherwise.

The new processor shifts it's efficiency gains to the integrated GPU mostly, and gets about 15% IPC over previous. That's not necesssarily "de-pantsing" level performance.

The bigger issue with this posted deal is it doesn't specify what TDP the laptop is configured in, which is up to Dell's discretion. It could be TDP-down'ed to 13w spec. It could be TDP-up'ed to 25w. you'll never know what type of performance this thing is gonna get without proper specs.

Trying my luck with a 'fair' for $360. Hoping it's anything but a display unit. If it was a display, it'll probably be going back.

The Acer 2-1 I bought for $150 (front page deal from Sunday) is functionally going to be used for the same stuff so if this is beat to hell and back, $200+ more for a better screen and processor probably won't be worth it to me.

Will report back once I have a chance to clean the unit up and evaluate it for damage/wear

I picked up the 15" version of this laptop for $280 from Rakuten a little while back with no touchscreen, no backlit keyboard, and 1TB SATA instead of SSD.. I ended up buying a backlit keyboard, M.2 500GB SSD, and bumped my ram from 4GB to 12GB for about $100 total.

My point is...bang for buck, this isn't a bad price for what you get, but I'd be interested to know if this model has a SATA drive bay. I think upgrading the 256GB with some non SSD storage...or even a SSD SATA drive might be a good use of some cash as 256GB is on the small side these days if you do any kind of file storage or multimedia stuff. Remember it's lacking a DVD drive. I ended up ripping some software to ISOs on mine and mount them locally.

I would take 15%... however I read somewhere the i7s of this gen are doing 2-3x over last gen.. so will see I guess

Well luckily it is costco so you have 90 days to figure it out... also if you use costco card 4 years of warranty after that...

Electronics: TVs, projectors, tuner-free displays, major appliances, computers, tablets, smart watches, cameras, drones, camcorders, MP3 players, and cell phone have a 90-day return window.

12 is a weird number. I would think you would want two 8 gb sticks in dual channel, ideally.

And the laptop already has mediocre battery from my testing with the Ryzen 5 model. Adding more cpu power is going to shorten this further. I wouldn't pay more money for that.

Personally I will shy away from dell for quality. As a friend of a former employee...the specs look fine for this though...
Don't do this to me... just bought a Dell gaming laptop yesterday

Just FYI, the price dropped on this by $100. It is now $399 + tax.

FYI, I bought and returned this because it only has a three-hour-and-change battery life.
