This was an amazing movie as a Godzilla fan. It was great to finally see Ghidorah, Mothra, and Rodan on the big screen. Specially love what they did with Mothra. I went there for the monster fights and visual effects and was expectations were exceeded specially with the homage to the older films and the soundtrack was incredible. I want this movie in 4K disc so I clicked on this post before I noticed it said digital, but if you don't mind then this is an amazing deal.

I actually edited out my first comment, about Prime PM but that was for HD version. So I just inserted that thought, not like I'm a huge critic. I'm a huge HDR junkie so bought it just for that, I have low expectations for the plot.
Yeah. HDR/Atmos junkie here too. I'm a OLED, 4 speakers in the ceiling and dual PSA Subwoofers kind of guy.

I remember when we were in the theater watching this movie I turned to my wife and said this is some of the worst acting I've ever seen. But we both thoroughly enjoyed it.

Im just here for the special effects and audio, with that being said should I wait for deal on the 4k disc or is this close enough?
I think I'm going to wait for 4k/UHD disk deals.

I have a very modest HTPC in comparison. TCL 65R6 and Vizio atmos soundbar. Vudu has solid DV and Atmos, enough for my tastes. I'm certainly not going to shell out twice as much for a disc but your system would benefit.
I haven't been in a theater since the 80's, I think it was the first Star Wars. Just not my thing, I'd rather enjoy my cozy home theater on the cheap.
Caught my first football game in 4K but the HDR didn't come through on the Fox Sports app. Maybe it was that newer Hybrid Log Gamma (HLG) format for streaming and my TCL needs a patch for it.

Shape of Water on Vudu was also amazing to watch, and a good film to boot. Best line was old guy advice "wish I had taken better care of my teeth and f*cked more".

I too have many negatives to say about this movie because I feel that the ones, lower budgets with guys in rubber suits were better, character development and plot cohesion were good. On the contrary, this, and many more Hollywood sellouts for Chinese finance have been so sad and CHEESY. The Chinese capital injection demanded the plot to be rewritten and heavily modified for character/plot and even political nuances to reflect the GLORY of China and her global might, only to cheapen and ruin movies as of late (Hint, you'd recognize Chinese cash for cheese immediately when there's a Chinese actor/actresses with five words lines and if the sentences were heavily syllabled, they struggled. Even in entertainment only driven movies like Meg, Kong, sighs The Great Wall with Matt cash strapped Damon, World War Z, Pacific Rim, Transformers etc.). This is a disappointment and a disaster for movie fans worldwide. I suspect Disney's reiterating of Mulan, expect to see how bent over, lubed ready Disney for Chinese's dictatorial inputs, will be a Velveeta fest, too.
Until Hollywood refuses Alibaba's and other Chinese state owned cash and make movies with class and integrity, this and future movies will be as good as Sharknados! Yet at least with Sharknados, you knew you wanted to waste time and brain cells coming in.

Sounds like you guys aren't Godzilla fans. Why bother having watched it in the first place? You should know what to expect before even going in. Sheesh.

If you want serious action and effects, watch it. If you want dramatic and quality acting with a super deep story, watch something else.

Saw this in the theater and loved it. Looking forward to testing it out on my new amateur home theater setup too!
Your defense of this movie reminds me of the 2006 movie Idiocracy. "...serious action and effects..." By your logic, there's no need for a plot or good acting. For those of you that have not seen Idiocracy, it was about a bleak future and the dumbing down of America. In this fictional world, the #1 movie in America was called A$$. It was literally just a person's a$$ on screen. Much like Godzilla, it too was weak on plot and acting.
As a fan of monster/giant robot/Sci-fi... wouldn't it be nice to have a good movie? Wouldn't it be nice to have a solid well thought out, well written plot accompanied by solid acting? We should demand more than mindless action and pretty lights. Why does it have to be either or? Godzilla was full of dumb unlikable characters doing dumb things that were illogical and often annoying. (Can't believe that I was the only person hoping that kid would stepped on by a monster.) I want it all! Great action, spectacular effects, logical imaginative plot and good acting is not too much to ask for. Unfortunately we settle for a$$ and defend it with statements like "You should know what to expect before even going in." Sheesh! SMH

The problem wasn't the action or the effects. The problem was that the humans were stupid and their actions were completely unbelievable. It got to the point where you almost wanted Ghiddora to win and eat them.

I'd also like to point out that this was my second most anticipated movie of the year, after Endgame. I left the theater so disappointed. There was nothing wrong with anything monster related. it was just that every time one of the stupid humans did or said something stupid, it just ruined it all.

I have heard incredible things about the 4K blu-ray so probably will wait for that. However, if you are only a digital person then this is a good deal.
I got the movie for $2.99 at Best Buy a special edition DVD

When I was a young kid, every Saturday was a "Creature Feature" and Godzilla was often the fare. I loved it. King Kong too.

EDIT: Just rented this Moviie in 4K Redbox. Keep 'em coming, T-Mo. Last night's fare was John Wick 4K. Big Redbox fan here.

All of those that are saying this movie was not good or this movie was a waste. My wife and I watched it last night and it's a solid movie for $10. The story is relatively easy to follow (though a major plot line is based off the previous movie), the fight scenes are amazing, Last movie there was a lot of slow moving moments to further the story; here there is a right balance for a monster mayhem movie between the action and the story line. If you're on the fence, I say go for it, I doubt you'll regret it, but at the same time if $10 seems excessive for a movie, then the juice may not be worth the squeeze for you.
