While I agree with you on your general statement, this is an organic protein so no need to worry about the gmos or pesticides.
Yes - this is what I thought at first. These two sites (claiming to be independent) tested the (organic) Orgain protein powders and have found concerning levels of glyphosate (cancerous herbicide also found in Monsanto's/Bayer's Round-up) along with some toxic metals. Up to you and others to decide on these reports.

"More than half of the protein powders tested had detectable levels of BPA, or Bisphenol-A, an industrial chemical used in manufacturing plastic items.

Studies have linked BPA to cancer. The chemical, which is also found in some plastic items, is also linked to infertility.

And according to the study, organic powders aren't necessarily better, or safer.

The organic powders tested in the study had, on average, more than twice the heavy metals, such as arsenic, lead and cadmium, than non-organic powders. A whopping 75 percent of plant-based powders tested positive for lead.

The study rated these products among the worst protein powders:
  • Garden of Life Organic Plant Formula Chocolate Raw Organic Protein
  • Orgain Organic Meal Creamy Chocolate Fudge
  • Vega Vanilla Protein and Greens
  • Ancient Nutrition Vanilla Bone Broth Protein
  • Quest Vanilla Milkshake Protein Powder
"

Yeah... I read a few independent tests and they have found most plant based protein powders aren't that clean even though it's organic. I guess they just do enough to skirt on by as "organic"

My understanding was these tests referenced were invalidated due to lack of peer review, mysterious funding, and the way that natural elements(like the increased metals in non-refined products) were ignored. But I'm more curious now and will have to research into it. Thank you.

Funny how they advertise that it contains greens. It's less than 5 grams of powdered spinach/broccoli/kale. Does that really count for anything?

Been drinking the CCF flavor for quite awhile now (2+ years) and, as someone who is lactose intolerant, this protein has been the best around for my stomach. That said, this powder is SUPER chalky (especially the unflavored). Drinking it with anything other than milk (lactose-free) or some kind of smoothie blend will test your taste buds as it is rather bitter with water.

While I haven't had any problems mixing it (quite possibly the best mixing powder I've ever used -- I use one these shakers [amazon.com] ), I have found that if you don't consume it within two months of opening it, it tends to clump and taste even more chalky and bitter.

That said, while I use this as my go to protein, the packaging is hilariously bad. The amount of protein they put in bottle is ridiculous. It's almost exactly half-full, where I've bought two just to fill one up. They need to cut the BS, and just fill the darn thing up or make the bottle smaller.

Gripes aside, I'd recommend this protein and brand to anyone who is lactose intolerant, works out at least 5 times a week (one of these usually lasts about a month at 2 scoops per 5-day workout week) and needs something other than a whey isolate (milk) based product. I'd hesitate to recommend it to anyone who doesn't consume at least 10 scoops per week as the open shelf-life of the product is rather limited and for those who can't stand chalky after tastes.

Some extra reading... Here's my review of it from 2017 [amazon.com].

On a side note: The price tends to fluctuate heavily from quarter to quarter, where typically it's around ~$15 per 2lb bottle. However, it can go for as cheap as $12 and expensive as $30+ (depending upon the flavor), so just a heads up.

I use this almost daily, blend in with my almond milk, oatmeal, peanut butter and some collagen peptides. The chocolate flavor is unbearable, AVOID. I have 3 tubs of the chocolate flavor that I'm never gonna use.

The vanilla flavor I've mixed into a water bottle and its still okay... blended in a shake it tastes great and blends well.

Which is the one you buy? This sounds good, but erythritol always gives me problems.

I am currently on this protein because Whey causes me to break out. I got the chocolate one. Although the protein content is pretty good I have to say this is probably the worst powder I've ever consumed. It mixes terribly with a shaker cup so you definitely do need a blender. I don't have one currently but I've been using a electric hand mixer and boy is it still bad. Even once fully mixed in (after a few minutes of hand mixing and scrapping the sides for clumped up powder) the taste makes me gag and I have to force it down. It's incredibly chalky. I regret buying it.
Mine mixes fine with just a blender bottle. Its also delicious! I mix it with either oat milk or almond. Tastes like chocolate milk.

I use this daily (the chocolate flavor) and have never had an issue with blending, taste, gas, or anything else.

The trick with blending, like with any protein powder, is to put the powder in last. If you dump the powder in first, it'll stick to the sides. Also, if you use water instead of almond milk or some other alternative, don't expect it to not taste like powder...
