If laundry detergent is anything like dish soap then it will wash your car fine but strip your wax off and in turn ruin the paintjob much quicker

Per Amazon description:
FOAM CANNON READY: Diverse application allows it to be used in a bucket or in a foam cannon. *Dilute 5:1 when used with a foam cannon.

Yes, I use it in a generic foam cannon and it works well. In my experience a few ounces will generate tons of thick shaving cream like foam.

When they say 5:1, does that mean 5 cups of solutions to 1 cup of water?

It's water to product. My cannon holds 24 ounces and I use 2-3 ounces of product with the rest water
