I've never played a Dragon Quest game before but this one was a lot of fun and nearly pushed me to complete all the challenges. This is the first game I've put ~100 hours into since FFVII.

There were some annoying things on the PS4 version, primarily voice acting and music, but otherwise, it was a really great game! The switch version mentions fully orchestrated field and battle tunes, so that could make this worth the upgrade over the $20 PS4 versions people referenced in thread.

Fast-forwarding in battles is also another big feature. I always hate grinding to level up and learn new skills.

^ See above post. Also, you're getting the portability option with the Switch.
Hopefully they will update the PC/PS4 version after they are satisfied double dipping sales. More then likely they will release a definitive edition for the other platforms for $60 again.

Just buy for $20 on PS4 or PC.
I'd like to buy it for $20 on PC. Where do I go to do that?

He's trolling. Even on CDkeys it is $48.

Good deal for those buying it on day one...Just started Fire Emblem, and will have Zelda and Luigi Mansion to get to after that, so I will wait until at least the Black Friday deals.. I do plan on getting Dragon Quest at some point though.

CDKeys isn't always the lowest price. But hey, buy it on Switch if you want and pay $50. It's not even 1080p and you're paying a premium because it's "Switch" Play on PS4 or PC and you can play in 1080 or higher.
And yet it has features not available on PS4 or PC -- graphics aren't everything. Do I think it should be $50-60 new? No -- more like $30-40, but unfortunately developers feel like Switch games are risky.

Just my 2 cents... I just bought the PC version on Steam and did the audio mod.. first Dragon Quest game for me and I'm really enjoying it.. very chillax. I did the audio mod for pc so I get the orchestrated music.. I played with the midi stuff for an hour and it was pretty bad, the orchestrated stuff makes a huge difference. I'm also playing on my new 65" C9 LG OLed at 4k 60hz.. it's a thing of beauty on this! I'm 14 hours in and it's getting better and better, really enjoying it and it's cool knowing I have 70+ hours left. I would recommend downloading the demo since the saves are transferable.. definitely wouldn't want to put 10 hours in and have to start over again when it's released.

Sure, it can be used as a handheld and you pay a premium for it. You will get 720p as a handheld, and usually 900p at around 30 fps on a television or monitor. I have a Switch, but if a game is also available on something else, usually I will get it on the other console or PC. If something like the new Zelda game is being released, then I go with the Switch.
To each their own really - for me it's the exact opposite. Call me crazy but I can't tell the difference between 1080p and 720p unless I see them side-by-side and never notice in normal gameplay. 90% of my gameplay these days is done in bed while my fiancee watches TV or while we're out of town/on a flight/etc. For me, the portability is 100% worth the premium, even if I'm just taking it 10 feet away to play in bed so she doesn't have to watch some game she doesn't care about.

On topic, I have never played a mainline Dragon Quest game, but the 10 hour demo hooked me and I'm super excited for the full game. It's really fun.

Have/love it on Steam. Going to hold out hoping that the "Definitive" DLC eventually finds its way to Steam & PS4 but if it never does I may have to double-dip once it hits a decent sale price.

The game is highly recommended whatever platform you choose though!
