Meh buy it cheap on PC unless you are a fan of the franchise or JRPG. Yes there additional stuff but not worth paying like $30 dollars more. Portability isnt a big deal for everyone (I for one care dont care about it. I always play games at my home)
I get it. If you can sit in front of a TV and enjoy a JRPG, you probably don't need this version because PS4 Pro and PC versions are gorgeous. For me, games like this and Skyrim get boring when I'm sitting hours in front a big screen; being able to switch to portable every now and then gives them new life to me.

i wonder how fun this game will be

Octopath Traveler - absolutely loved the game but stopped playing after finishing 4 of the 8 storylines

Fire Emblem Three Houses - played 13 hours and sold it on Craigslist. way too grindy in the house and too many mechanics felt tedious to learn, didnt care for my party "Support", and the battles were too easy

No need to wonder. Download and play the demo from the Nintendo eShop. I'm about 9 hours in and enjoying the demo. I'll probably grind a bit after I finish the demo.

Is this a buy for someone who hasn't played any dragon quest games but is interested?
Download the demo but yes I started a dq1 but my 13yr old started at dq7 and fell in love they are independent of each other for the most part
