I'm so wary of Dell laptops. The one I got my parents for Christmas still has issues coming out of sleep mode despite hours with tech support and having them change the motherboard. Will they do replacements or is a refund even possible at this point?

So,, ~$230 more than the G5 with the 1660ti.

Idk, 2060 doesn't seem worth that much more than a 1660ti. This has more metal and thinner.. buhhhhh... hrrrrmmm....

Doesn't the 2060 have more life in it? I'd rather have a system that can handle the influx of Scarlett/PS5 ports. Both of those allegedly have 8-9Tfops!

no, 2060 mobile chip, is more/less the same performance as 1660ti is the same as 1060 lvl performance from last gen.

The rtx on 2060 is a joke, it's too slow to be of any use, even at 1080p.

Nothing is future proof at the moment, because the ONLY card that can reasonably utilize Ray-Tracing with playable framerates is 2080Ti (and even then , it doesn't do a good job).

But for everything OUTSIDE of raytracing, 2060 = 1660Ti = 1060 (On Mobile)

on Desktop 2060 is a good chunk faster than 1660Ti and much faster than 1060. Desktop 2060 is a completely different performance lvl vs mobile.

Scarlett/ PS5 will have something close to desktop 2060 or gtx1080(vanilla), probably 5700 or 5700xt
Incorrect, the RTX isn't close to a GTX 1060. I have both, and the 2060 habitually beats it by 40-50 fps. Games that struggle to get 60 fps on the 1060 are smooth on the 2060.

He was talking about the mobile 2060, not the desktop 2060.

Your link is Desktop 2060, MOBILE 2060 is virtuallly the same as 1060 and 1660ti

Question, for clarification:

The RTX 2060 mobile is a cutdown and slow down of the desktop RTX 2060 unlike the last gen where it was pretty much 1:1.

Is that claim you made concerning the Max Q variants for all 3 mobile GPUs?

The link was to desktop, my mistake.

But the point still stands. I have a GTX 1060 powered laptop and this Dell with the RTX 2060. Across every game I've played I see significant improvements to framerates and don't have to dial back any of the settings.

This site [techspot.com] shows performance gains of 34% in Wolfenstein II, 25% in Watch Dogs 2, 35% in Far Cry 5, and 37% of Dirt 4, disproving that the 1060 and 2060 are "virtuallly(sic) the same"

On mobile, 2060, 1660ti, 1060 All perform very similarly IN GAME, because they run up against the power limit.

When you apply ~150-200 watt power limit to any laptop with these cards, they perform nearly identically to one another.

The 2060 will have the higher peaks, but you take an average, it really doesn't come out ahead.

on DESKTOP, 2060 blows everything away obviously, because it gets all the juice it needs. nod

Whatever difference you're seeing, it's down to heat dissipation and max wattage of the laptops,

You win arguments with data [notebookcheck.net], not speculation.
